So my question would be, is the school, ie government, going to supply these bookbags with the RFID attached or is it something each parent is going to have to pay “extra” for each year?

There is a pilot program in Dallas where they put a tracking device on several students that are well known for not showing up to class. According to the news it has worked beyond their expectations and the kids are excelling in class, now that they are there. One said, “hey I can’t hide.”

We need to microchip public employees, politicians, and their contributors or else!

“Because the pilot program is being provided to the school district at no cost, it did not require approval from the Rhode Island ethics commission.”

Amazing. If something is free of charge then it is automatically ethical.
Are they so stupid as to not ask WHY the program is free ?

Also, this chipping of people has been foisted (as predicted by many) on the voiceless and the vulnerable: Children, elderly/infirm/crazy/demented. Who’s next ?

Now there's an idea worth exploring!! I'd vote for it in half a heartbeat. Write up a draft resolution and we'll see how far can get! lol

"Your car is already tracked as well as your cell phone."

That is exactly why I don't run right out and get the latest, newest vehicle or cell phone. Neither of our vehicles are trackable and my cell phone is old enough that it does not have GPS (and I know this for a fact because I work for the cell company that provides the service). I don't know what I'll do when the time comes to upgrade my phone....maybe get out of the cell phone business and ditch the cell (it's a nice convenience, but I don't really need it).

Has there been any hint of that hysteria on the thread so far? I just happen to like my privacy. Thank you very much!

Yep. Select groups of people are chipped, the positive results are touted, the chipping expands...

And Google-Earth portrays our private property across the internet for all the world to snoop in ...
And “smart” homes upload our personal living habits...

And our RFID chips provide our medical/health status to our grocer’s computer which in turn allows or prevents our purchases of various food items, alochol, tobbacco etc..

Okay I’ll stop my tin-foil-hat-rant. :)

I don’t see how this would have the effect of monitoring anything but the movements of their school bags. Which they can easily trade around, leave behind at school when they leave campus to play hookey, etc.

Get them used to the idea when their young and when it comes time for
everybody to be chipped, they'll fall in line by saying,
"well, we had chips and it never hurt us" in the next generation..

Thank God... two more years and the last one is done.

Didn't enjoy your kids much eh? You should have home-schooled them, you might have gotten to know them better.

And thanks for caring about the rest of tagged humanity too.

Ya know... it’s amazing what a “cow magnet” does to the RF chip when it comes in close proximity to it.

Hmmmmmm, most rural feed stores stock plenty of cow magnets most all the time. They’re useful for all kinds of things. Seems like the kind of thing that a kid should carry in their backpack, just in case they need it.

Note: I don’t own stock in either feed stores or cow magnet mfg. companies. [grin]

Which is exactly why I said they’re sneaky! :~D I was a kid myself. I knew where the good snacks were stashed at home! And I still watched The Wonderful World of Disney Sunday nights from the hallway after being sent to bed! lol Oh, the good ole’ days when that was the extent of bad behavior. :~/
