My take on Pa is just that Mitt would be better there than the other choices I see being tossed around - like Crist.

Landslide for McCain??
I’m thinking he needs to do everything near perfect to win, and even then it would be tough.
Not something more to his nature - like choose Lieberman or Crist.

Exactly... Romney’s also got the money to compete, could have ran as a OUTSIDER, had the fire in the belly, and would have taken the fight to the Dems, head-on.... He would have been far, far better than McCain

I guess they figured over at Newsweek that they had to do something to bring the average number up. The real gap appears to be just over 4 points...which is very close to a statistical dead heat.
At this point in the campaign that bodes very bad for Obama and Newsweek knows it.

Enough people will not vote for a member of the LDS church, especially in the South, to make a difference in several states there. As for me, I would have been closer to voting for Romney at the top of the ticket now than I am McCain... at least when he changed his tune, he stuck by the new promises.
McCain is already within the margin of error or close in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. You don’t think this would make a difference?

Brit Hume said in 2000, “I think if Newsweek took a poll of the Bush family, Gore would win.”
That pretty much sums up the credibility of a Newsweek poll.

The ones that made a difference did not vote for Clinton, they remained home. (Except the Catholics, who for some reason voted for him.)
