"It seems that something very bad, related to an airplane, happened to them. … I think maybe bombs were thrown at them, or they were shot at," he said.

What idiotic speculation.

I’m guessing one of them was photoshopped in. Either that or they tried some of that instant tan lotion down at the quickie mart.

A few things are known about the enigmatic people, Meirelles said. They have shaved foreheads but long hair

“Why is one really black and the other two almost red?”

Because they want to “Celebrate Diversity”!;)

yeah, me neither. i don’t think you’d be able to stalk your quarry very effectively in the jungle if you’re covered in orange paint.

The nomadic tribe was especially hard to photograph, Meirelles said.

“When they hear the noise of the plane, they hide in the forest, leaving their communities empty,” Meirelles said.

“It seems that something very bad, related to an airplane, happened to them. … I think maybe bombs were thrown at them, or they were shot at,” he said

Well I guess in today's world with satellites, drones, etc that can take photos from miles away I'll just have to take their word for it....

The gods threw them down a coca-cola bottle one time and it caused havoc in their community.

Ah, yeah, that'd do it, alright.

One NCO, two grunts.

They can come into town during Carnival without blowing their status as unknown tribe. Once a year, get your tee-shirts and fade back into the njungle.

(Sigh) If you want to sound like an acknowledged ignoramus, it's alright by me, but like an inaccurate Wikipedia article, I hate so see others mislead by a Poster's seeming “fact”.
Had you any credibility at all, you would have mentioned that said Coke bottle only caused havoc because it came as a direct affront the Sacred Pepsi Can, that was spit up on the river bank by a large cayman.

AMAZON INDIAN PEOPLES, VIDEO.

The Matis Indians are perhaps the most exotic and photogenic tribe in the world. They use facial ornamentation and tattoos to imitate the appearance of a jaguar. They have a very rich culture and many beautiful ceremonies such as the Ceremony of Mariwin, the Ritual of Capybara, the Dance of Queixada, and the Poison Frog Ceremony. Mariwin is very colorful as the participants paint their bodies black...

interesting website, maps, numerous Amazon tribes, red and black body-paint a common feature.

In a previous article there was speculation that the red paint was males, the black paint female. Considering that red figures have weapons and the black one doesn't, there may be something to it.

The problem with the picture is why she is making herself a target while the other two have bows. (WE tend to overlook the obvious).

Now, about the white things that look like feet on the men. Nike??

And look at the mens' stance...A little off balance??

I'm not questioning the validity of the tribe...just the validity of the picture...It looks "setup".
