While it once cost $3,000 to ship a container from a city like Shanghai to New York, it now costs $8,000, prompting some businesses to look closer to home for manufacturing needs.

Some large companies like Crown Battery are cutting expenses by moving jobs from Mexico to Ohio. And hair care company Farouk Systems plans to shift all of its production from China to Houston this summer bringing with it 1,000 jobs.

The oil price crisis has caused lots of harm, but it looks like there are a few silver linings in the clouds.

I was dispatching this morning JFK-BRU and my ops rep said Nokia was producing furniture in the US vice China because the savings of producing in the US outweighed the cost of shipping goods from China.

Now the Democrats will be using this in their campaign commercials. “$5 gas is great. Look at all the jobs coming home”. Then forget the tens of thousands losing their jobs because of $5 gas. You heard it first here.

So the liberal media is trying to tell us high gas prices are a good thing?

Eff that.

Repeal NAFTA and GATT and the jobs will come home.

Stand by for a reversal in the value of the dollar. The Euro is about to take a drubbing.

Nokia does phones, not furniture. Maybe your ops rep was thinking of IKEA.

You’ll probably continue to do so because outsourcing of call centers is dependent upon fiber optic cables, not oil.

Some large companies like Crown Battery are cutting expenses by moving jobs from Mexico to Ohio.

But if we're at what economists generally define as "full employment", now won't Crown Battery need to import workers from Mexico to Ohio to build the batteries?

Yeah! Same ole mumbo-jumbo from the Democrats.

Emailed my Congressional Rep on Monday asking him to support offshore drilling and the building of new refineries here in the U.S. of A. To his credit he or his office did reply to my email today (Tuesday).

He stated all the Congressional bills he had support to create alternative energy and blah, blah, blah!

However, not once did he mention or comment on supporting domestic drilling or building refineries.

Ninth Congressional District Indiana Baron Hill. What a phony.
