I just received an email from a very dear FRiend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous informing me that her husband had a very serious stroke on Sunday morning and will likely be needing surgery to remove swelling on the brain.
This woman is one of the finest FReepers I know, she is a true conservative and a staunch defender of life. She went through cancer surgery herself last year and is now facing this. She and her husband and family need all the prayers we can give them.
Thank You All and God Bless
They have my prayers.
I got an update from my FRiend this morning and the news is better.
He cannot speak yet, but he can hum and sing.
He seems to have no problem understanding everything, which is wonderful news! He is able to write things down to communicate.
He is sleeping a lot due to the swelling on the brain, but the swelling has peaked and surgery probably won’t be necessary!
My FRiend would like to thank all of you, she says that this thread is a great source of comfort for her and she plans to read it to her husband as his recovery progresses.
I too would like to thank all of you, the outpouring of love for someone you don’t know is truly touching.
Please have a safe and happy Independence Day and God Bless.
Prayin’ and thinkin’ what a terrific person and friend wagglebee is.
Prayers continue.
You’re always thinking of others and this thread is just one example. I’ll help you BTTT later today...
Adding my prayers.
God knows this individual better than they know themselves, and every hair on their head is counted. With their faith in God secure, a wonderful future is assured.
His eye is on the sparrow...He cares for every one of us in a way that is far beyond our comprehension...
That’s great news, Wagglebee!
Sounds like the worst is over.

It sounds that way, but with strokes you can never be too careful.
just saw the thread and will add my prayers.
Thanks xs. I would have pinged you, but I know how involved you get in your dictionary thread! :-)
Oh, I know. My family had to deal with a massive stroke my Grandmother had, and my Boss had a serious stroke about five years ago from which he still hasn’t got back full use of his speech.
It’s a terrible thing to go through, but thankfully there are some who weather its effects better than others.
no problem, but i CAN walk and chew gum/pray at the same time ; ) LOL!
You must have acquired those skills since moving to Virginia, there's NO WAY you learned them in Pittsburgh! :-)
I’m not the one who is sick.

He can hum and sing. What a blessing! Would that we all would even want to sing in our worst hour. Praise the Lord.
I hope no one minds, but I would like to post a prayer here, right now.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you so much for loving us and making it possible for us to come right to your throne, to speak with you. I love you very much, and thank you for the many mercies you have shown me. I thank you for all the times that friends, have prayed for me and my family; and I ask you to bless each and everyone of them, with blessings far greater than they asked for me. I come now to pray for a man who had a stroke. I don’t know his name, but Lord, I know that you know his name. Your word says that you even know how many hairs are on his head! I know that you love this man, and his wife. I ask you now for the same kind of mercy you have shown me many, many times, to be given to this couple. Help them Lord. Renew them. Heal them, for your name sake.
Also, I want to remember here, Jim Robinson the founder of this site, and ask you to remember him, and complete his healing.
But, I also come to you today, to ask you to heal this brother of ours; to lean down and whisper in his ear comforting, healing words. I pray that you would strenghten his heart and his mind, that you would comfort him, and make him strong and able to stand. Not just stand on his feet, but stand on your word. Stand firm in his faith and trust of Jesus Christ. I ask you to bless his wife, and send her patience and understanding. Give her strength to endure. Give them eyes to see your glory, and feel your presence at all times. Lord you are great! We know that you can do these things, and we trust you to keep your word. IN the holy Name of Jesus Christ, I pray and ask, Amen.
Thanks for your truly touching prayer.
God Bless
Your grace still amazes us. We exalt Your Name and praise You for blessing this man and bringing Your healing to him. May the Name of Jesus Christ be glorified in his life always. We love You and thank You in His Name. Amen.
Another bump , with more prayers for our FRiend and her husband.

Great news. Proof that prayers work. Keep the prayers up.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 15:6-7
bttt again.
Keeping up the prayers this morning...
prayers to all of you involved.
Continued prayers!
Praise God! Thank you for the praise report. Prayers for this dear couple will continue. :)
Another bump and more prayers!
No news today, which I hope is a good sign.
Let no news be good news.
Deo gratias
I got another update from my FRiend and the good news continues.
He has been moved from ICU to the stroke unit for more aggressive therapy (unfortunately, all of therapists are off for the weekend).
He has been listening to music, watching videos and talking to friends.
Thanks to all for the continued prayers and God Bless
Prayers up!
This family will be in my prayers.
Thanks and thanks for the update in the title.
Good news. Continued prayers.
Welcome!
Good update.
Continuing to pray for this special FReeper and her husband.
** (unfortunately, all of therapists are off for the weekend).**
This is a bummer of a thing. When I moved to the Nursing Home for recovery from my total hip replacement, it was on a weekend.
Drove me nuts knowing that I needed the physical therapy and yet could not access it.
(On my four days in the hospital they had me up and walking, sitting, walking, exercising the first day! So I knew it was possible.)
Bah! for the weekends!
Plus it’s a holiday weekend.
Wonderful! Prayer changes things for sure.
Excellent news! Continued thoughts and prayers for the family.
PTL ~ prayers continue
He's still in the stroke unit, but he is getting some therapy for speech, swallowing and range of motion. He needs more intensive therapy, but hes not ready to be released to a rehab facility yet. They are going to do another swallow test today which hopefully will show improvement because he has been having trouble with the feeding tube and IV.
There is a lot of blockage in his carotid arteries, they don't want to do anything now, but hope to open one of them up with surgery or a stent in about a month.
He seems to be trying to say some words, but it will take time.
Our FRiend has been bringing their Shih Tzu to the hospital to cheer him up and that seems to be helping.

Thanks to all for the continued prayers and God Bless
Continuing prayers!
Good news indeed! Thanx. We’ll keep him on the prayer list for this Sunday evening’s non-denominational prayer gathering at FR.
Thank you, Lord, for Your powerful healing. Help us to accept Your timing whether progress is made quickly or slowly. We know that Your ways are always best. Grant patience and endurance for this trial and may this family emerge victorious as they trust in You. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
