Obama's Plane Scare July 08, 2008 7:36 AM

By the time we all heard about it the unscheduled stop that the campaign plane of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, made in St. Louis yesterday was ultimately uneventful. But the incident was quite dicey there for a spell.

As the pilot struggled to re-gain control of the pitch of the plane - the angle of the nose of the plane - Obama was told that he and the other 44 passengers on board might have to assume the brace position upon landing, bending forward with their heads between their knees.

That ultimately did not happen, but National Transportation Safety Board chairman Mark Rosenker told ABC News' Dennis Powell yesterday that the incident "is extremely serious in this particular case."

An inflatable slide in the tail cone of the plane had deployed, making control of the plane tough. "There are hydraulic lines back there," Rosenker says. 'There are control cables that deal with the elevators and other area's of control surfaces for the aircraft, and could potentially make it extremely difficult if not impossible to fly the aircraft."

Three fire trucks met the plane on the tarmac in St. Louis. Obama called his wife Michelle to let her know he was fine before she saw anything on TV about the plane's unscheduled landing. The plane was supposed to land in Charlotte, NC.

This was not Obama's regular campaign plane, which is being overhauled. It was a loaner, having previously been used by Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY.

“Suspicions confirmed!”

Probably the first circumstance in which Freepers and Michelle O. are thinking alike.

Guess he isn’t going to ask Hillary to be on his ticket now. LOL

Really amazing to think about the possibilities of this.

If the worst had happened, it would be a very very bad thing for our country.
It would fuel conspiracy theories for decades, and fire up the excuse making and blame casting.

Yeah, it would be bad - for awhile, but it might be worth it in the long run. There's no way to know now, we'll just have to wait a few years to see what we could have missed but I would not mourn his passing. Regardless of how it might be accomplished, whether by an act of God or an act of a madman, I'd just order another bowl of popcorn, a six-pac of Bud, put my feet up and watch the fireworks.

Any journalist with power in this country could win the Pulitzer and make a name for him/herself by exposing the Clintons and making sure they ended up in prison for the rest of their lives. It’s rather amazing that none dare go after the grifters, but then again, their lives would be in danger, their pets killed, and probably their family members tortured, beheaded, and killed. The collusion of these nitwit ‘journalists” is stunning. By subordinating themselves to the fake “leader”, they got the power to shape the weak-kneed President, who by constantly pointing a wet finger in the wind, based his decisions on what the media told him was popular. The media ran the country from ‘93-00, Bill and Hill were merely puppets of the criminal cabal. Powerful puppets, but in complete collusion with the Media empire.

My wife thinks the entire emergency landing was staged because Brak did not want to be in North Carolina on the eve of Jesse Helm’s funeral. Uniters must avoid the appearance of gloating, and all that.

Oh, c’mon, this is just a *massive coincidence*. She probably had her campaign stop paying for maintenance well before her campaign imploded.

Just because we are finished with June, it doesn’t mean that bad things can’t also happen in July. (Or August.)
