Because of his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, Tony is rejoicing at this moment. May that be a comfort to those who love him.

I don’t think I ever saw him that he didn’t have a twinkle in his eyes, looking like he was smiling even when he wasn’t — he had boyish charm mixed in with obvious strength of character and conviction.

A loss for all of us for sure, but what a huge void he leaves his loved ones. My heart aches for their loss and I pray that the Lord will comfort them and strengthen their hearts for the days ahead. May they rest in His promise that they will see Tony again.

"Anybody who met Tony loved the guy. He was thoroughly decent, kind, honorable, and full of life. Whenever I would run into him, he was always smiling and upbeat. He so loved his family and country. This is a great loss of an outstanding human being. I wish his family peace and my heart goes out to them."

That broke me up.

Tony was one of a very rare and special breed: gentlemen in politics.

In case these statements have not been posted yet.

Senator John McCain issued the following statement on the passing of Tony Snow:

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Tony Snow. He was a loving father, husband, friend and truly one of America's most gifted commentators. Whether he sat behind a radio mic or stood behind a White House podium, Tony Snow always sought to give the American people new insights into our government, political process and leaders. He asked the tough questions and took them as well. Even when diagnosed with cancer, his fight served as an inspiration to all Americans. In the coming days, we will celebrate the life of a truly great and generous man."

Sen. Mitch McConnell's statement:

Tony, above all else, was a man who cherished his family. He was a man who inspired through example, and who sought to lift others. Through his public courage and optimism in the face of what came to be his last challenge, he sought to give hope to many others. Tony was a remarkable man, and this loss is felt by an enormous family of admirers that has only grown during his many years of public life.

Elaine and I send our deepest condolences to the Snow family, but also our gratitude for sharing Tony with us these many years.

You and Tony will have a tee-time in heaven some day....a LONG time from now for you, but you will see him again.

And I still won't be able to crack 100, ending up being smoked by Tony by 25 strokes.

Then I'll ask, "This is heaven, right? That drubbing I just took makes me wonder."

I so wish that Fox and Rush or the other media types would talk in more detail about Tony’s faith. I think that is what Tony would have wanted. Discussing how his love of God was the core for his great personality and his wonderful life. I wish they would read that from his article on having cancer. Its such an insight into his person and the core of his faith. Its what the world should hear.

Out here on the Left Coast, got jolted awake by the terrible news this morning at 0630. Mr. Inspectorette and I had just been talking about Tony yesterday, wondering and worrying why we hadn't seen him (even if it would've been on CNN).

Through my tears, I'm just thankful that his suffering is over, but my heart is breaking for his beloved family.

From Byron York:

Away from the office, what people will remember most about Tony is what a decent man he was. When I heard the news this morning, I thought about something he wrote back in 1998, when Brit Hume's son Sandy died. Like everyone else, Tony was badly shaken; why had such an awful thing happened? A few days later, he wrote:

The day I heard of his death, I raced home and hugged my wife and kids with a ferocity that startled them. Since then, I have clung to them a little tighter, lingered with them a little longer, relished their company a bit more. Suddenly, jarringly, I came to understand: Loved ones are fragile, precious gifts from God. Tragedy, villainy or caprice someday may snatch them away.

From Wolfstar:

Search long enough and you will find posts on FR that call Tony Snow a "RINO." The term, and others like CINO, are thrown around so much here (and elsewhere) that it has ceased to have any substantive meaning. Tony Snow was one of the kindest, least mean-spirited public people of our era in politics. He could STRONGLY disagree with people from across the political spectrum, but he always did so without invective and vitriol.

If we really want to honor the memory of Tony Snow, THE one thing we should all do is follow this particular example he set. We need to stop turning invective and vitriol on each other and on political figures from our side of the aisle, even when we disagree with them strongly on one or more matters of policy.

Despite whatever arguments we had about policy a few years ago, Tony was a good guy and for the most part good conservative and a solid Freeper. I’m sure he was a good friend, father and husband. Too young to leave.

God Bless his soul and prayers for his family.
