Obama not closing race divide - poll
Herald Sun ^ | 16 July 2008

AMERICANS are sharply divided by race ahead of the first presidential election in which a black candidate will represent a major party, a New York Times/CBS News poll showed today,

The poll found that blacks and whites hold vastly different views of Sen. Barack Obama, an Illinois Democrat who would be the first black president, and are also divided on the state of race relations in the US, the newspaper reported.

In the survey, 83 per cent of blacks had a favorable opinion of Mr Obama, compared with 31 per cent of white voters.

Mr Obama will face John McCain, a white Republican senator from Arizona, in the November 4 presidential election.

On the status of race relations, 59 per cent of black respondents they were generally bad, compared with 34 per cent of whites who thought the same way.

The nationwide telephone poll of 1796 adults showed that 39 per cent of blacks said there had been no real progress in recent years in getting rid of racial discrimination.

Only 17 per cent of whites said the same thing.

Twenty-seven percent of whites said too much had been made of problems facing black people, while half of blacks said not enough had been made of racial barriers faced by black people.

“... 39 per cent of blacks said there had been no real progress in recent years in getting rid of racial discrimination.”

This whining why Blacks have lost the race to be the number one minority, to Hispanics. The good news is that at some point Blacks will come to understand the reality of their position and start to turn themselves around.
I defy anyone to point to any genuine provable systematic racism in our public life. If Blacks whine for reparations they will fall still further behind. BTW America has already made reparations: From April 1861 to April 1865 the Union Army lost 77 dead a day everyday from combat actions.

..and if Obama loses, we can look forward to at least 3 months of scolding from the media on how racist we all are.

JF’inK lost because he was “swift boated”, a.k.a. as “truth was revealed.”

Obammy will lose because America is racist.

It all makes we want to retreat to and live in a heavily fortified cave.

It fascinates me how blacks continue to hold onto the racist theme of victimization by other races especially whites, which is their only path to success.

These people have almost 100% population in a whole continent - and yet they insist they are maltreated when mixing with whites.

I have never been able to figure them out. They continue to rely on whites for their definition of self.

Totally misguided.

“The very best thing that could be done for the any race in America is to establish strict workfare for the unemployed and even for most of the disabled. We can complain about old programs like the CCC, but they did a lot of infra-structure work on smaller roads and bridges that was going undone.”

Agree completely! The problem is the inevitable problem of those who would compare it to slavery.

Having know people that worked in the CCC, it seems that it gave them a way to accept government assistance with dignity. That’s something that was important to that generation, but doesn’t seem to be so today.

Pride in “scamming the system” seems to have replaced that.

“How much further do white people need to bend over in an effort to accommodate and pay homage? What more can possibly be done?”

White people aren’t bending anymore and this race nonsense has no where to go. The whites you speak of might publicly be contrite, but in private don’t care. I know I don’t.

How is it even possible Obama could be ahead in ANY poll if those numbers are accurate?

Good question.

Either those numbers are skewed, or Bambi is heading for a landslide defeat in November. I don't know of a state in the country where a 31% approval rating from whites gets you elected, let alone a national contest.

Good question. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that 99% of the MSM is in the tank for Bambi and most of the polling being done is being commissioned by the MSM, who then take the results and use them to propogandize for their candidate? Hmmm. I wonder?

Pollaganda polls must be dialing only New York city and Chicago? Whatever the reason, the media is desperately spinning on behalf of Obama and will find ways to inflate his support.

Obama is the least qualified and most extreme candidate *ever*. He would be an utter disaster.

The shock should not be the low ratings from whites, but why isnt it low across the board.

“How much further do white people need to bend over in an effort to accommodate and pay homage? What more can possibly be done?”

You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

Think of the ostracism forced upon the Jews in 1930’s Euorpe. They were regarded as an evil, wealthy minority conspiring to hoard control and power and keep gentiles down.

So it will be with the remaining Euro-Americans as their numbers decline in the decades to come, and as the demographics and influence of “minorities” in this country grow.

The whites will be branded with the same tack as were the Jews: racists forever, who - even as they decline in numbers - will cling to wealth and power, and “keep the people of color down”.

NO amount of “anti-racist” laws will correct this, for only whites can be racist, because that is part of their nature. As long as there are whites, there will be racism.

Thus, we will see an ever-increasing number of “hate crime laws”, “hate speech laws”, and ultimately “hate-thought laws” as well.

And the whites — well, heck, they’ll just put up with it and swallow it all down. It’s that “white guilt”, right?

Tell me personally: what would YOU do if someone called you “a racist”?

- John
(who has been called as much in this forum, but who no longer bears any white guilt and doesn’t care what he’s called...)

If they were serious, I'd laugh in their faces, then beg them to please sue me so that when they lose I can sue them for slander and defamation.  If they don't want to do that, I'd invite them to please rent a fifty-ton crane to lift the giant chip off of their shoulders and to please calm down and not be quite so hysterically hypersensitive.

I'm not about to be intimidated by this on a personal level.  Sadly, I'm forced to work in an environment that has been fully  intimidated on a legal and professional level.

Obama will win NJ with a margin of 1-2% at most, which is not good considering how heavily the state has been voting Democratic in national elections since 1988 (it has leaned Dem at a local level since the 1920s), and will lose the otherwise trending-Democrat suburbs of NYC (Clinton, Gore, and Kerry won Long Island and Westchester Counties, but Obama will lose these).

Where the "race thing" will really get him in trouble is in Pennsylvania and (possibly) Michigan.

The good news is that we have a "middleman minority", now the largest, that has ZERO desire to cast their lot with blacks.

I see more of a cultural Brazilification more than anything else: Whites (and many Asians, including East Indians) at the top, brown and white people in the middle-lower middle, blacks at the bottom. I hate to be so blunt, but those are my prognostications.

If they are, they are retarded. He is a secular like me.

Plenty of white Dems in Manhattan and here in New Jersey who are voting for Obama. I know that he got killed in the hebrew precincts in my state (Teaneck, Manalpan, Cherry Hill, etc.), but there are plenty of white Dems who are neither Jewish nor union members.

Besides, the large number of minorities will be voting for Obama. They and the sizeable number of white leftists that live in places like my area will put Obama over the top in New York and New Jersey.

Where Obama will run into trouble will be among the "bitter white" Democrats in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ohio.
