Ad featuring popular LDS actor pulled for being 'homophobic' (Snickers)

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Candy giant Mars pulled a U.K. Snickers advertisement after it was criticized for being homophobic, according to a gay-rights group.

The ad features LDS actor Kirby Heyborne, who has appeared in several LDS-themed movies, including Singles Ward, The RM, The Best Two Years, and others.

In the commercial, Heyborne is seen as effeminate man who is speed walking as Mr. T approaches him in a truck while firing Snickers candy bars at him from a gun. Mr. T then berates the speed walker, calling him "a disgrace to the man race." The commercial ends with Mr. T telling the audience to "Get some nuts."

The candy maker has come under fire before by gay rights groups, most recently over a Snickers ad that played during the 2007 Super Bowl in which two men expressed disgust after accidentally kissing.

Heyborne also recently shocked his LDS fans when he appeared in a Miller Beer commercial.

Where did the ad say that the speed walker was gay? Thin skin, people...funny as hell, though.

I actually know more than a few people.

Of course they TRIED to “man up” with the fictional characters on a road trip ad series but the swishy mayflower pilgrim killed that.

seems at mars candy the ad department is chock-full-of-nuts.

this article is out of salt lake city and when you google this guy, a ton of mormon stuff comes up. so i think it is latter day saints.

Oh, the author cares that the speed-walker actor is a Mormon for some reason. Odd.

The ad itself has absolutely nothing to do with Mormons, unless Mormons are normally stereotyped as effete speedwalkers. I could see Mitt speed walking, actually.

evidently this guy is HUGE in the mormon community. seriously. he has been in a ton of their movies and is trying to go mainstream so he can support his family. so anything with him is big in the LDS circles.

nope, not fear - revulsion nope, not irrational, but a natural revulsion to perversion

Most fags know the idea of being homo is repulsive and that is what they are trying to reverse. They are doing a good job with liberals on that.

Where's the adjectives for all actors?

Would that adjective be "liberal"?

You speak the absolute truth. Just a word used by sodomites and their homophiles to silence and intimidate.

The lib/commies see the homo/SSAD movement as just another tool to chisel away at the foundation of the family as the basic unit of our society.

You should have seen the look on my sister-in-law’s face when she used to word “homophobic” and I said “who’s afraid of them?”

Not sure, but it was as if I had spoken a strange heresy.

I know exactly what you mean. It's scary. Kind of like being in an asylum stating something obvious to an inmate.

phobic = irrational fear

nope, not fear - revulsion nope, not irrational, but a natural revulsion to perversion

It's not homophobic. It's homorevulsion.
