wow! No kidding; mooring an all??? You have a nice rough little quake there, Churchillspirit. But as I’ve thought on it... I’d rather be on the Queen Mary for a quake, than on the ground. I think you’re blessed!

I remember the Northridge one. Didnt feel it, but when I reported to work that day, they asked for volunteers for an assist crew to help our then-sister-hospital (Holy Cross-Mission Hills) I signed up, but they only sent the first bunch for a few days, then discontinued sending people. Since then, that hospital was sold to another Catholic chain, and we’ve been merged (really, taken over).

You're welcome, NRA2BFree. There's some structural damage reports coming in. Thus far, no reports of injuries. It's interesting to read reports of what people felt further out from the epicenter.

I bet there will be a lot of structural damage reports come in. We've only had a few minor quakes in my state and that's too many, as far as I'm concerned. I don't ever want to experience one. A 1.0 would probably scare me to death. lol..

Thought yours was funniest darned comment!! :)

This is very upsetting. Nancy Pelosi promised she was trying to save the planet, and this sort of thing keeps happening.

still chuckling. Bet Repubs in DC are having to work hard to keep their poker faces on, too.

My family used to live in Glendale for about 4 years, at the corner of lcalde and Arboles. We had a dog who had a fit at the swimming pool every time that there was a minor quake.

Funny. In Jurassic Park, Ian Malcolm, the mathematician, is the common-sense one. He says, "God help us. We're in the hands of engineers."

started off slow and rolling followed by a sharp jolt.

Something sure jiggled into a new position.

I think of that every time I drive over the Bay Bridge. Can’t decide if I would rather be on the top or bottom deck. The new bridge is in the process of being built. Just one desk thank god. I think Loma Prieta got the highway designers over the notion of double deck bridges. 880 is no longer so and so the Bay bridge will not be. Yeah!!!

Can Guarantee ya... Northern CA is bracing. They always brace when SoCal gets a goody. I think we were visually taught that the San Andrea is like one long zipper; and if it popped on your end, we’d better keep an eye out on the smaller faults in the Bay Area.

nice helicorder. Do you mind the store? I did that a while back. I used to do interpretations and send daily reports to NEIS (Golden, CO). I thought everything was digital now. Where is the seismometer?

that's a myth, the Pacific Plate in moving inward, California is getting bigger.

Prayers up for all. My first quake was the '89 7.2, I was waiting to hear trumpets sound...though for sure Christ was returning.

I’m just north of you in Westwood. Pretty mild here, with an initial jolt followed by about 10 seconds of light rumbling. Heard a few doors rattle, but nothing other than that.

If you mean “Oriente” Drive, it’s about a mile and a half from me. No buildings were knocked down and the damage has been minor. The neighborhood looks fine. I just drove to the store, or rather, stores, since many of them were closed for the clean up of the mess from broken bottles and containers.

This quake wasn’t on the San Andreas and I don’t think there’s any evidence of correlation of moderate quakes in Northern and Southern California.

Isn’t Holy Cross one of the last remaining level one trauma facilities in Los Angeles? In fact, it may be the only one in the valley. They’ve had quite a spate of closures in the past fifteen years.
