Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani was quoted by press tv as saying on Monday that Iran's Air Force has achieved self-sufficiency in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of its equipment.
He added that Iranian military experts are capable of overhauling F-5 two-seaters, F-14 Tomcat fighter jets, 707 and 747 aircrafts with only forty days of work.
"We have upgraded our air force fleet, state-of-the-art radar-systems, and rocket launchers over the past few years," Brig. Gen. Miqani said, adding that the country would continue its efforts to reach the peak of its military capability.
The Iranian Air Force chief announced that the country is mass producing different types of drones used in reconnaissance missions, pinpointing enemy bases, and carrying explosives.

Despite Saddam having much of the latest from the US and the USSR in the Iran/Iraq war, the Iranians cleared the skies of the Iraqi air force and completely controlled the sky.
And anyone here who thinks that the F14 is an obsolete platform that cannot stand up to most more modern designs had best think again
Death traps. The Iranians are way behind the power curve with respect to air assets and are scrambling to catch up. They've tried to cut deals for Su-30, Chinese J-10, and upgrades to the MiG-29, all apparently without much success. That's going to be a problem if they decide to strap on the IAF.
That is very funny....ROFLMAO
I’m there with yah
Sure it did. - Untill the Iranians wiped them from the battlefield skies.
The Iraqi invasion soon encountered unexpected resistance, however, and around March 1981 it stalled.
A preemptive strike executed by the Iraqi Air Force on the first day of the war successfully destroyed parts of Iran's airbase infrastructure, but failed to destroy a significant number of aircraft.
The IRaF was only able to strike in depth with a few MiG-23BN, Tu-22 and Su-20 aircraft, ineffective in a country as large as Iran.
When three MiG-23BN's flew over Tehran, they attacked its airport but damaged only a few aircraft.
Over the next day dozens of Iranian F-4s attacked Iraqi targets, and in a few days the IRIAF gained air superiority over IQAF, allowing them to conduct ground attack missions with fighter-bombers and helicopters....

No I meant the F14 is a worn out obsolete platform.
where do they get the spare parts for the planes? they are 25+ years old.
All hat no cattle.
In the hands of a good pilot an F-5 is still a formidable adversary as the pilots at VMFT-401 and VFC-13 will atest to, as will their opponents.
This is a bunch of horse crap. Iran can’t overhaul a pig head in a mosque.
If this is true then the Pope is indeed Jewish!
Iran has fed the world its bluster before, but their credibility is the same as that of Al Gore. All it ever does is get more intense and outrageous.
More important than the platform are the weapons you are hanging on it. What is the quality and how do they stack up to what your opponent will be throwing at you?
Even more important is the quality of joy stick actuator you will be installing.
When I was at Basic Training at Lackland AFB in 1977, there was always a group of Iranian Air Force troops training there. Our TI called them “Pringle Hats.”
OK, So?
