WASHINGTON - Cell phone calls on airplanes in flight are not only unsafe, they're obnoxious and they should be permanently banned, according to some members of Congress.

oh please. this is about folks shouting/disturbing on their cel phone during a flight in normal circumstances. Passengers can already use their phones in extraordinary circumstances like being parked on the tarmac during a ground hold and engine shutdown.

Yeah, and they don’t want people calling Perky Katie or Peter Jnnings while the hijacked airplane is headed straight for the Washington Monument! What about the public’s right to know? The 1st Abendment?

That should be airline regulated though. Congress should stay out of it.

I think it's rude to go to a restaurant where women are laughing and shrieking and talking so loudly that you can't even hear people at your own table. I usually just move but hey ...it's annoying. Maybe Congress can pass a no talking while eating law.
