Toyota has developed a motorized stand-up-and-ride Segway lookalike designed to help people scoot around at malls and airports.
But the "Winglet," shown Friday in Tokyo, takes some getting used to. A demonstrator was visibly worried about its safety while accompanying a reporter who cautiously tried it on a short course in a Toyota showroom.

I don’t get it. If you’re able to ride one of these things, why not just walk?

I have a friend who has MS and doesn't need a wheel chair but could use some help getting around. I think this could help alot of people who have disabilities or just need a little extra help.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I put the H-pipe and a set of chambered nufflers on the vette today, and to celebrate finishing left two 120 foot long black marks on the road in front of the shop.
I don’t think a winglet is quite enough transportation for me. Besides, I hate toyotas because I have to work on them. Hondas are much better cars.

What happens when a person can no longer legally drive but still wants to get out of the house or get to the Stop n Go for some milk.

That depends on the tire pressure.

I would not use one myself, but I have seen three Segways being used in the last month. I guess it is because of the gas prices. There is one advantage to a segway possibly over bicycles, and that is the ability to bring it onto a light rail or subway. Bicycles can be brought onto light rail too, but they are pretty clunky, and trains only have so much space for them.
These Winglets look especially designed to be loaded onto public transportation, judging by the folded up red one. This give people a farther range from the public transportation system. If that is the design focus, it may be successful.

These things are just “so gay”.
