Americans rate price gouging by the oil companies, price gouging by foreign oil producers, and a lack of effective action by Congress as the most important reasons why the price of gasoline is so high -- essentially equating congressional inaction with price gouging.

People are catching on. I hope the Republicans will continue the revolt and bringing home the point to the American people.
The Democrat Congress also promised "cahnge" in 2006 -- we sure did get change, oil going from $50 to $150.

People aren’t stupid. When they hear that oil is $120/bbl they know that oil companies are paying well over $2/gal for crude oil which they must then transport, refine, and distribute.

It is not just Congress: it is a Dem Majority leading that Congress that should be blamed. Gallup and other polling companies should be more clear in defining just who runs Congress et al.

Amen! You are on the money. It is a sad day when government makes more profit off ones labor than anyone else. They could use these taxes to pay for the increase in minimum wage. Congress and especially the Democrats put the Mafia to shame.

I hate to disappoint you but a fairly large portion of them are stupid .. they think "big oil", which only controls 6% of the world's reserves of a freely traded global commodity, has the ability to arbitrarily jack up the price and rip them off.

and don’t even get me started on the money government makes from cigarette taxes all while painting tobacco companies as merchants of death
BTW the government makes 10x more money from a pack of cigarettes as the tobacco companies does but you won’t see that on the TRUTH.

This plays right into Pelosi's hands.... PRICE GAUGING who the F came up with this???
If there is any price gauging it is coming from all the massive layers of taxes added to the price of a gallon of gas....

U.S. Congress, Gouging Blamed Equally for Gas Prices (Gallup Poll -- 57% blame Congress)The depressing thing is 43% of them are still ignorant morons.
The gummints made 3 times as much in taxes, and the Terrorist Financers ten times as much.
So who gets the brunt of the abuse?

he big danger going forward may be the growing support among Americans for establishing price controls on gasoline. Right now, 62% favor instituting such price controls.Must be the bulk of under-30 voters.
