Russian jets have bombed a Georgian town amid a deepening crisis over the breakaway South Ossetia region.
Georgia says 60 people died in Gori when the bombs hit residential buildings as well as military targets.
Russian officials say hundreds of civilians have been killed in South Ossetia. Georgia denies the figure, which cannot be independently verified.
The Georgian parliament has meanwhile approved a presidential decree declaring a state of war for 15 days.
Reports differ over who controls South Ossetia's capital, with Moscow saying it has "liberated" Tskhinvali.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said his country was seeking "to force the Georgian side to peace".
Russia's ambassador to Nato, Dmitry Rogozin, said there could be no "consultations" with Georgia until Georgian forces returned to their positions and re-established "the status quo", Reuters news agency reported.

Hey Russky... two wrongs don't make a right...
gee, i wonder what the US will do when some state like florida or california wants to separate from the union...oh and that day is coming, as is civil war...but i am sure many will laugh at that notion, but those people need to be reminded we had a civil war already!...the only difference this time is it won’t be black vs white...it will be left vs right
...and when some US state wants to separate, i wonder how the US will respond to countries around the world that criticize the US for using military force to stop it
...america should mind its own buiness
Yea where is Cindy Sheehan, Penn, Lefty human rights organizations, Robbins and NPR.
Resting up so they can celebrate the "liberation" of Georgia from its status as an American client state.
Your post is confusing... I support the United States to supply weapons to Georgia to keep Russia the hell out so they can keep their republic together. You say that America should mind it’s own business and liken it to foreign interference in the event we have a civil war...

Good backgrounder to but things into perspective
Its kind of strange. Lots of footage and pictures of the hundreds Georgian casualties. Anlmost none of the thousands of Ossetians. I think the Ossetian casualty number is a lie made up by Moscow to justify their invasion. The Russians are claiming that an entire city was destroyed by Georgia but I haven’t seen any picture of it. Now they are blaming Bush for the war on Russian TV. This can only mean that the US media will side with the Nazis... er the Russians.
A resurgent russian controlling all of the caucasus oil and gas fields IS america’s business.
Gori, Stalin’s hometown.
UMMM! I wasn’t aware the U.S. Civil war was black vs white.
