I believe the answer to all of the above is "No".
Demographics is destiny. It's a simple fact that many parts of the USA will no longer be culturally part of the USA in as little as 20 years. It won't be long after that the political seperation begins. Slowly at first, always by voting, but inexerable and moving only in one direction.
Eventually we will be facing bad choices, just like the Georgians were. Hopefully we make smarter choices when that day arrives. But it's not looking too good. After all we've made a series of horrible chioces so far, that has allowed things to get to the point we're even thinking about this.
I believe Travis's books, particularly the second one, are prophetic.
I cannot speak for New Mexico or other places...but I know a lot of the people down there.
That is not to say that the liberal, anti-American sentiment does not have roots there...it is just not strong enough to effect what you are talking about in Texas at this point IMHO.
