WASHINGTON (AFP) — Former Republican secretary of state Colin Powell denied Wednesday that he was to appear at the upcoming Democratic convention, in what would have been a coup for White House runner Barack Obama...
...Powell told ABC News in a telephone interview: "I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol's musings. I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear."
.."He (Obama) doesn't have experience at the senior levels of national government...Last quote removed by source article for some reason.

That’s better....
From the horses mouth means a little more than MSM rumors.
Oops... just noticed your thread. Disregard my last post to you! ;-)
...and !BOOM! goes the Dynomite!
Thank you Mr. Powell!
So Kristol should have confirmed the story will Powell before going with it on national TV... Duh...
ping!
Powell just earned points.......
Can we now say “Powell disses messiah. Black revolt likely.”
It’s better this way: Powell catches Kristol peddling somebody’s filthy lie and rubs his nose in it.
Priceless.
If the Commie 'RATS need "Republicans" to speak for them, they can give Moe Chafee, Larry Leach and Curley Hauser the time. Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!
I am not sure this counts a a strong attack against Senator Obama's level of experience.
My paraphrase was a little off on the other thread. I heard it on the local news, posted that, then went and found the source article (this one)..
For a former State Department flunkie, it still is something..
A McCain/Powell ticket would be hard to beat. Not my cup of tea, but would be a solid ticket nationally.
Considering that Powell has financially supported McCain to the max allowed level, one of my first guesses was that this was floated to get Powell in the headlines before he endorsed McCain.. it would get all the Obama cult excited then bam, Mac.
Maybe getting the denial and the diss to Obama was the whole point of Kristol’s report.
"Rebuffing a key line of attack by Obama's critics, Powell told ABC in April: "He didn't have a lot of experience in running a presidential campaign, did he? But he seems to know how to organize the task.
"He doesn't have experience at the senior levels of national government. But I've seen other individuals who have come along that didn't have that breadth of experience," said the former top official under President George W. Bush. "
There is plenty of room to endorse Obama. What he denies specifically is that he will go to either convention.
Bill Kristol: from the horse's rear end.
I would have a lot of problems with that ticket, but I could live with it for four years if it meant keeping Barack out of the Oval Office.
Neither McCain nor Powell would want to run in 2012. Then we could get a solid Conservative voted into office.
