Most people don’t know what the “fairness doctrine” is. Rasmussen calls these people up and ask, “Do you support the fairness doctrine?”

“Fairness? Sure. That sounds nice. I support it.”

Liberals have been very good at re-defining words.

Communists -> Progressive -> Liberal -> Progressive

Homosexual -> Gay

Fairness -> Fair, Unbalanced

It should be titled the "Unfairness" Doctrine.

Something like the Fairness doctrine would produce a civil war.

I doubt it, honestly. Americans hate freedom enough that they would probably suck it up and re-elect everyone who voted for the legislation. If they even paid enough attention to know the doctrine had been put back in place.

My take:

The question was probably

“Are you in favor of the Fairness Doctrine?”

Well, yes, of course! I’m always in favor of fairness. I’m in favor of diversity too!

Yep, most people have NO idea what this is about. The polled idiots probably liked the word "Fairness". A nice word, isn't it? Can't be wrong, or?

What if they called it the “Government Control of Media Access Doctrine”, and adhere to some truth in advertising?

First thing we need to do is stop calling it the “Fairness Doctrine.”

So, Congress will jump at that in an instant.

75% want the border secured and illegal immigration stopped, but Congress won't much about that.

Congress finds its own priorities, and then does them.

Is it any surprise that half of us (especially the younger half) wants to rid the airwaves and the internet of “hate?” Brainwashing pays off in the long run if accompanied by patience, which the left has always had plenty of.

I would be curious to know the exact question that the pollsters asked. It could have been something like, “Do you support legislation to ensure that both sides of a controversial issue are presented blah blah blah,” and most uninformed people would take that at face value and say “yes,” not realizing what the consequences would be.

My thoughts exactly. It should never be referred to as the Fairness doctrine again. We need to coopt the title and start calling it the Unfairness Doctrine.

I’m in favor of diversity too!

The Left's idea of diversity is somewhere between a Cirque de Soleil dressing room and a Madonna concert... in Kindergarten.

FDR was a propaganda master, well taught by his Communist friends.

Who wouldn’t be in favor of “fairness”? Who wouldn’t want a “new deal” after a Great Depression had thrown them out of work?

It’s only when you actually look at the details that you learn better. But how many people do, when the media are busy telling them what a wonderful, wonderful guy FDR is? He is still generally admired as a great man, even by many Republicans.

I hate to say it, but McCain-Feingold used the same arguments. I remember the adulation with which the folks on NPR spoke about Election Reform. Who wouldn’t want to get rid of corrupt practices and have honest elections, at the mere stroke of a pen? Our masters have promised us a New Utopia, and people are still ready to believe their enticing language.

I doubt it, honestly.

So do I.

Without having the slightest idea what the issue is, the reasoning would go, "Well, if you're being FAIR, what do you have to worry about?"

Then everyone would roll over and go back to sleep.

It's freedom of speech when they yak, it's hate speech when we speak. Anyone else see the hypocracy of the left here? I'd pay NOT to hear the left...
