I'm sorry, but I believe he is perhaps breaking one of the commandments here with that statement.
Even I know that bringing in and distributing bibles in China is forbidden, this guy claiming ignorance of that law is almost unbelievable IMHO.
I agree with you.
These people KNOW that religious freedom is not respected by the Chinese government, and that religion is, in fact, persecuted.
Is their right to practice their religion being violated by the Chinese government? YES.
Is there ANYTHING anyone can do about it until the Chinese people decide to do something about it for themselves? Almost certainly NOT.
He probably should have waited until after the Olympics to try this. I’m sure the security at the airport there is very thorough right now.
According to CNN and the Chicoms, only the central government and man-made creations are worthy of worship. Ancient Rome repeats itself under a new name. Hail to Caesar.
The word of God is like a lion; you don’t have to defend it, just turn it loose.” - Charles Spurgeon
The ChiComs know this.
“Is there ANYTHING anyone can do about it until the Chinese people decide to do something about it for themselves?”
Sorry I don’t think the people have a choice. Their govt decides what is good for them.
The Bible says Jesus is our King. A communist state cannot allow that. The State must be supreme.
Now I'm no Christian, so I may not have this correct, but I always thought that the Bible said "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesars." That means submitting to the lawful Chinese authorities when in China. Bibles aren't illegal in China, but any idiot knows that you can't just bring suitcases full of them into the country.
Well, at one time our founding fathers “didn’t have a choice”, either, and their government decided what was best for them, too.
Then, some of them TOOK the choice they “didn’t have”, and the rest is history.
There are a WHOLE LOT more Chinese “people” than there are government officials or even soldiers. If they REALLY wanted to do something, they could.
“I’m sorry, but I believe he is perhaps breaking one of the commandments here with that statement.”
Could be, but he’s been doing it a long time and they always looked the other way. Perhaps he didn’t have enough bribe money.
There are many countries where missionaries must be extremely careful. No phone calls discussing their work and emails must be encrypted.
There is nothing “lawful” about a regime that is in power solely on the basis of violent repression.
They are implementing the Great Commission. If you thing in doing that you break a Commandment you are misinterpreting the Commandment.
“Now I’m no Christian, so I may not have this correct, but I always thought that the Bible said “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesars.””
yes that is true.
“That means submitting to the lawful Chinese authorities when in China.”
The Bible also says that if a government is not following God’s law they are to be condemned. It is not Biblical to turn away from God because the govt hates Christianity.
And that makes China different from the Roman Empire in what way, exactly? You think the residents of Judaea conducted a plebiscite and voted to join?
Our founding fathers had faith in a higher power, and it was that faith which gave them the courage to do what they did in the face of daunting odds.
That faith is precisely what the Chinese people don’t have right now, and why the government there is working very hard to suppress religion. They know it’s really the only thing that can topple their regime.
>Well, at one time our founding fathers didnt have a choice, either, and their government decided what was best for them, too.<
These days you are forbidden to pray before a test.
DID YOU KNOW?
As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world’s law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view ... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!
DID YOU KNOW?
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the Two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments Engraved on each lower portion of each door.
DID YOU KNOW?
As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see The wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington , D.C.

James Madison, the fourth president, known as The Father of Our Constitution made the following statement:
We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said: It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law an oligarchy the rule of few over many.

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said: Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers.
How then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?
Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on.
It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or In God We Trust on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

China and the Roman Empire are very similar. China doesn’t kill quite as many Christians though.
The render unto Caesar is generally about paying taxes but we are supposed to follow the govt’s law. Until that law violates God’s law.
I’ve attended a lecture/seminar on this topic.
We are to submit to authority, even earthly authority,
except in the cases where that authority
forbids what God commands, or
commands what God forbids.
God commands that we spread the Word.
So Emperor Tiberius, who Jesus was referring to, was following God's law? Now which god was that?
Was it Jupiter Optimus Maximus or Mars?
Which is why the entire line is Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesars, and unto God the things that are Gods”
Christians have no obligation to obey laws of the state that are contrary to the laws of God.
“There are a WHOLE LOT more Chinese people than there are government officials or even soldiers. If they REALLY wanted to do something, they could.”
The Chinese are very good at controlling the peasants. They’ve been doing it for around 5000 years. If every citizen rose up they could take down the govt. Tens of millions would die in the process.
The Chinese have learned from the Russians though. They isolate groups and give people just enough freedom to keep them placated.
