The 36-year-old actress was born in Hollywood, California. Robert Applegate, her father, was a record producer and record company producer executive, and Nancy Lee Priddy, her mother, was a singer. She also had to fight both breast and cervical cancer.

Christina Applegate will always remain in the audience’s memory as Kelly Bundy in the sitcom “Married with Children.” The actress made a great film and television career until her 36 years.

Christina Applegate had major roles in several pictures, as “Farce of the Penguins,” “Anchorman,” “The sweetest thing” and is the lead character in the ABC sitcom “Samantha Who?,” Samantha Newly.

She has been diagnosed during a regular MRI and her cancer diagnosis was reported by the Hollywood gossip TV show Extra. Still, she now announces that she is free of cancer after she had followed the rigorous treatment.

“I’m clear, Good Morning America,” the actress said in an interview on Tuesday. "Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer," the “Married with Children” star announced.

The actress is now scheduled to appear in the TV-special “Stand up Cancer” which will air on ABC, CBS and NBC beginning September 5. The goal of the show will be to raise money for cancer research.

I didn’t even know she had it. I hope she is indeed free of it.

Whoa, Bundy!

Didn’t I just see APe reporting she’d had a double mastectomy?

An article I read elsewhere says that she had a double mastectomy, although the cancer was only detected in one breast.

She’s 36 now? Man am I feeling old. Wishing her well. I’m sure other women going though the same will look to her for inspiration.

Yep, she had a double mastectomy. Apparently it was the only logical decision. Pretty tough...I wish her well.

You are correct, although I did not name the source that must not be named. :-)

Her mother reportedly had breast cancer as well, and Christina says that she tested positive for a gene mutation linked to breast and ovarian cancer. So, she apparently decided to not take any chances.

Damm.

A wise, but very difficult, choice.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion...

"She has been diagnosed during a regular MRI and her cancer diagnosis was reported by the Hollywood gossip TV show Extra. Still, she now announces that she is free of cancer after she had followed the rigorous treatment."

The first three paragraphs look like they’re from a pre-written obit. Notice how it’s all “she was” and “will be remembered”? I honestly thought she was dead by the end of paragraph two and thought that made the headline pretty weird, dead’s not really the preferred way to “get rid of” cancer.

Reminds me of Ann Jillian, another beautiful actress who was known for and (if I may put it this way) used her *assets* but when cancer struck, she had the double-mastectomy. Here's to Christina, a talented lady regardless her bod, being around a good, long time, a bunch of roles that we can cheer her on.

BRAC 1

Same with my wife. I would bet she'll also have her ovaries taken as well. No need to wait for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I just hope that tough decision of hers brings her a healthy life. Prayers out to her. I had seen a show where women who decide to do it go and have their chests tattooed with some beautiful artwork.

There’s a great line from Anchorman, but under the circumstances I can’t say it.

I wouldn’t have used the word retarded but certainly “English is my second language.” Wouldn’t have been surprised to see “all your base are belong to us” in there somewhere.
