The problem of Barack Obamas relationship with Bill Ayers will not go away. Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn were terrorists for the notorious Weather Underground during the turbulent 1960s, turning fugitive when a bomb designed to kill army officers in New Jersey accidentally exploded in a New York townhouse. Prior to that, Ayers and his cohorts succeeded in bombing the Pentagon. Ayers and Dohrn remain unrepentant for their terrorist past. Ayers was pictured in a 2001 article for Chicago magazine, stomping on an American flag, and told the New York Times just before 9/11 that the notion of the United States as a just and fair and decent place makes me want to puke. Although Obama actually launched his political career at an event at Ayerss and Dohrns home, Obama has dismissed Ayers as just a guy who lives in my neighborhood, and not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis. For his part, Ayers refuses to discuss his relationship with Obama.

We’ve got to remember, though, it is his “judgment” that makes him more qualified to be POTUS over McCain’s “experience!
ping.
Obama is amazing. He dismisses all his dirty laundry and Dems believe him.
When you put together the evidence of Obama and his friends: “God damn America,” “This is the first time I have been proud of my country,” “When I hear that American is a fair place, it makes me want to puke [remedy: blow up the Pentagon and try to kill military personnel - hey Ayers, do you think the Chinese or Russians would protect your civil liberties?], “Above my pay grade...”
Obama and the Dems are launching a hate and smear campaign against McCain. Why? Because they can’t focus on what Obama REALLY wants to do - so deflect, lie, intimidate.
Ah, I remember the party of Hubert Humphrey. What killed the Dems? People like Ayers.
B.O., Man of Mystery, and he plans to keep it that way.

This conference is part of the Center's mission of helping to create a more engaged civil society, working towards social change, fostering coalitions between theorists and activists, and combating anti-intellectualism in contemporary culture. Don’t expect Dan Rather and the MSM to dig into this.
Obama’s hero Carter tried a lot of hate and smears towards the always upbeat Ronald Reagan in 1980 and I think it hurt the Dems. The same could happen to Obama.
Hopefully Ayers will be this year’s Willie Horton, though the Dems will scream bloody murder. But then, they’re used to that. Bloody murder is what Ayers and Dorhn advocate. Anyway, TV ads linking these psychos to Obama are perfectly legitimate.
Are Ayers and Dorhn still teaching in college in Illinois ?
I’ve been digging all morning online- interesting observation- Yahoo brings up countless links when typing in Annenberg and/or Annenberg Obama. Google references are much, much fewer.
In addition to the piece you posted here by Kurtz- here are two updates by him yesterday on The Corner:
Annenberg Records in Grave Danger [Stanley Kurtz]

Earlier today, I appeared on the Jerry Agar radio show, in Chicago, talking about my efforts to gain access to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records. After my appearance, a spokesman for the University of Illinois at Chicago phoned Agar, read a statement, and was interviewed. Agar did a fantastic job of drawing this fellow out, and what emerged alarms me profoundly. Although the statement read by this spokesman for UIC claimed that the university was aggressively pursuing an agreement for legal possession of the documents, under questioning, this university spokesman clearly raised the possibility that no such agreement would be signed and that the entire Chicago Annenberg Challenge records would be returned to the donor, who he refused to name. You can listen to the interview here.
I will have more shortly.

Later, Kurtz includes the transcript of the radio interview:
Below you will find a transcript of the radio interview Chicago talk radio host Jerry Agar conducted with a University of Illinois at Chicago spokesman regarding the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records. Although done quickly, this transcript should be at least 95% accurate, and is probably more so, but if in doubt, listen to the audio interview in my earlier post. Here is the transcript:
Prepared Statement by Bill Burton of UIC library:
The university library supports the teaching, research and service missions of the university by acquiring, organizing, preserving and providing access to information. The library is open to the public and dedicated to free inquiry. The university has not received ownership rights to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Collection. The university is aggressively pursuing an agreement with the donor. And as soon as an agreement is finalized, the collection will be made accessible to the public.
Question and Answers:
Q: Whos the donor?
A: Im not sure Im at liberty to release that information.
Q: Is the donor Bill Ayers?
A: Not to my knowledge.
Q: Why is this a problem? If they give the material to a library, why would they hold up after giving permission. Your library gave permission to Stanley Kurtz to look at this material. Why was he suddenly shut down?
A: We were only made aware that there was not a formal ownership agreement as recently as he was so informed.
Q: How long can that take?
A: As I said we are aggressively pursuing an agreement with the donor.
Q: Stanley Kurtz I believe points out in his column he finds it hard to believe you would get 132 boxes of material without that agreement being put in place ahead of time?
A: I cant help what he find hard to believe. But in fact there is no ownership agreement.
Q: Can this be done before the election?
A: Im sorry.
Q: Can this be done before the election?
A: It can be done very quickly once we have an agreement.
Q: Can the agreement be done before the election?
A: Excuse me, and if it cant be done well simply return the materials to the owner.
Q: Do you understand that it looks you guys are trying to help someone hide this information from the media?
A: Thats not the case as I just told you.
Q: Thanks for your call.

Note to the naysayers: imagine what you would say if evidence emerged suggesting that pro-life John McCain had a close relationship with people who bomb abortion clinics. Just use your own arguments, and youll be fine.
Co-opted the comment for a new tag line.
It’s unreal (I would say unbelievable, but these are leftists we are dealing with) that they would shut out and restrict access to this stuff. It’s not medical, It’s not Personnel Records. It’s donors and documents relating to things that were paid for with government dollars. FOIA them and let’s see
Amazing.
Great point.
Yup. Missing birth certificate, citizenship questions, school records, medical records, can't remember college addresses and friends, SAT/LSAT scores, "lost" MS thesis, unknown law office clients, no access to non-profit group records, etc. Who is this guy?? If he was a Republican, the MSM would be all over this like flys on you-know-what. And this smells like you-know-what too.
Yes- it IS amazing isn’t it? WHO vetted this guy for the DNC?
