I have not seen Darenko on REN TV, but most certainly I can see that Echo Moskvy is only a radio and its TV version, i.e. RTVi is prohibited in Russia==
Dorenko works there as the invited jornalist. I see him freqauntly in REN tv news for example.
RTVi, i means international. So it dedicates to the foreign auditorium. In Russia rtvi broadcasting only in cable lists. See there site: http://www.rtvi.ru/.
Who the hell told you that?! Those who drafted agreements in 1994 did not even know the watching drones existed - how the hell can it be prohibited?! And it was Russian plane that shot it down - there is f... footage of this and even your defense ministry acknowledged this, but only now! Russian plane accidentaly lost a bomb near Tskhinvali in 2007 - bloody one year ago. There were radar readings confirming even the airport this plane has taken off. Russian helicopters were intruding Georgian airspace over Kodori almost 24/7, but Russia always lied about this, just like it lied about Kursk being sunken, or just like it lied about Beslan, or tons of other things. Come on, we were living in the same country - how's the f...’s bright idea was it to conduct 1 May parade in Kiev when Chernobyl blew up only few kilometers away...
And you know nothing about artillery - you really think a cannon taken as trophy in 1992 can fire today?! are you kidding?! let alone the fact that even Georgian army did not have such artillery back in 1992! Please use common sense and sheer logic.
And about 50K killings, this is not BS, this is the information confirmed and spread by Russian media - must have been more than that!
Oh I would LOVE to live neutral - but there is no bloody way Russia would ever RESPECT that neutrality! didn't Putin just said that we have been and always will be in the Caucasus?!
Yaeh:). You tell me that Kokoiti is from Russia GRU?:) By your words GRU is so formidable organisation:). Accually it is just army intellegence.
Kokoity is just an idiot. Now, he won’t be admitted into GRU, FSB or even YMCA! But all his advisers and ministers were Russian officers, including head of his secret service.
Oh, I do not imply that. Russia did what it did only to punish Georgia for its aspirations to the west and building country which is way much better than Russia. According to the latest inquiries conducted by World Bank, 98% of Georgians said they have not paid bribe to receive public service in past 2 years! Can you really say the same about Russia? Bloody NO!
And yes, you did not know a lot of things, I can see here, yet you assume that Kokoity and his GRU / FSB ministers represent Ossetian people! the answer is NO! Kokoity is a bandit who allowed his homeland to be raped by Russian military! He needs to be brought to the international criminal court of justice - he openly admitted conducting ethnic cleansing on the territory!
Oh, absolutely - I am sure the moment it starts broadcast into Russia there will be some commerical agreement / unknown loan from GazProm or the like and it will be shut down.
BTW, you appear to be able to watch it, so why don't you and see interviews by former adviser to Putin, where he openly states that Russia was preparing for war against Georgia for the past three years!
Your news and perspective come from sources controlled by Putin and the gang. Russian troops were not in Russia protecting Russian lives. They were in Georgia.
His action and agression are hurting Russia and her people.
Yes it is true that the Georgians attacked South Ossetia, but if you look at the time line, it is clear that the South Ossetians violated the cease fire first and rocketed Georgian villages. It is also clear and troublesome that as soon as Georgia attacked in response, that all of those hundreds of tanks near the Roksky Tunnel were ready to go within a few hours. That had to have been planned and makes it look like Putin was looking for a reason or pretext to invade. Perhaps he even helped cause the pretext.
I personally believe Georgia played right into Putin's hands. The attack gave Russia the retext it was looking for and particularly when Russian soldeirs, what you call "peacekeepers" were killed. it is too bad they did.
But, having said that, let's be clear, the same areguements you give for Russia intervening can be made for Georgia intervening. Her soldiers and her citizens were also being killed, and long before Russia ever invaded.
But there is one HUGE difference. Georgia was operating within her own borders. South Ossetia is recognized as part of Georgia. Russia had to invade a soveriegn country to do what she did.
That difference does not mean a lot to the dead...but it means a lot to the nations of the world who are looking on...and it is already having its impact. Poland signed its deal with the US and NATO, Ukraine and Georgia will probably surely be a part of NATO now, when they were just denied that opportunity earlier this year, US and NATO naval presence in the Black Sea has incresed, the US and Europe will redouble their efforts to gain energy independence and the US can make that happen. This gives all the more reason and imperative for the US to do that.
There will probably be other economic fallout and measures on both sides which will be felt by people everywhere, far outside of the Georgian Provinces.
Again, the people on this forum and of the United States have no issue with the Russian people and we look forward to the day when they once again throw off this type of leadership. But we do have an issue with the actions of Putin and his cronies.

That’s interesting, never heard about that, but it makes perfect sense.
Normally I am a very healthy person with pretty low blood pressure, but I can feel it going up on these threads though I continued to post.
However, we have had a major confrontation with two of our neighbors (married to each other) because on two consecutive days they stole our political signs. The first day we didn't know who did it. The second day I saw them and demanded our signs back loudly and publically. I got them back and they admitted they took them both days!, but it was ugly. Again, nothing like Russia, but this was right here at MY house with neighbors stealing MY property.
Now I fully realize that theft of a political sign compared to the Russian Invasion is like a one celled creature next to a Mammoth, but most of the BP came from Russia's thuggery and thievery with the neighbors' little puny 'Rat thuggery and thievery laid on top. They are both in positions of authority in our subdivision which made the parallel even more so although soooo very much lesser. These creeps haven't killed anybody that I know of.
Also I haven't been able to sleep much over Georgian concern. It REALLY matters!
Anyway, when I got up to 171 over 118 with a huge heart beat rate and my chest started hurting (still does, but not as bad) and pressure in my head, I had to bail on the Russian threads FOR A WHILE. I hope to be back to normal by tonight or at least tomorrow. This just doesn't happen to me--until now, and I will get control of it.
Please continue to ping me and I will be back on the job as soon as I get my physical self under control. BTW if I was on the firing line over there, I would ignore the physical symptoms.
Let me know if you want in or out.

“For much of its history, Russia has been a weak state masquerading as a strong one — a psychological profile in insecurity. That’s why it has generally sought its advantage internationally by acting as an opportunistic spoiler, as it now does over Iran, rather than as a constructive partner seeking to magnify its influence (à la Britain) or as a rising power patiently asserting its place (à la China).
How does one deal with a neurotic? Not by coddling him. Russia is dangerous but it’s also weak, and it would be good to find ways to remind it of that latter fact. Stinger missiles for Georgia would be a start.”

How was Russia defeated in Afghanistan?
Thanks for the link.
It bolsters several other reports on just how weak Russia really is economically, especially in the areas everyone has been regarding them as strong—oil/gas.
Also, this was the first indication I've seen that Pooty’s sock puppet Medvedev has ever stood up to him in any way:
“Yet Mr. Putin has created conditions which his own president, Dmitry Medvedev, calls “legal nihilism.”
Also new info to me:
“And what will it mean for Mr. Putin's clique, where the possibility of infighting has only grown with the split between his ex-KGB siloviki pals who wanted the presidency and the members of Mr. Medvedev’s camp who got it?”
I agree that Georgia should get the stingers for protection from this gangster government of Russia, but it would be much better for the whole world if the gangster government tore itself apart at home and/or the oligarchs find a way to perform Russian Regime Change.
