She's happily married, dreaming of divorce
CNN ^ | 8/26/2008 | Ellen Tien

Posted on 08/26/2008 12:53:43 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

I contemplate divorce every day. It tugs on my sleeve each morning when my husband, Will, greets me in his chipper, smug morning-person voice, because after 16 years of waking up together, he still hasn't quite pieced out that I'm not viable before 10 a.m.

..snip..

Maybe one day, marriage -- like the human appendix, male nipples, or your pinky toes -- will become a vestigial structure that will, in a millennium or two, be obsolete. Our great-great-great-grandchildren's grandchildren will ask each other in passing, "Remember marriage? What was its function again? Was it that maladaptive organ that intermittently produced gastrointestinal antigens and sometimes got so inflamed that it painfully erupted?"

Happily married? Sounds more like bitterly married.

Just someone admitting what I’ve known for quite some time -

the left intends to destroy the traditional family.

Communist Goal for America #40
Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

No way in this day and age I would get married again.

And I'm darn careful about the company I keep.

Celibate, single, and solvent seems to be the correct direction, these days.

“Remember marriage? What was its function again?”

I fear they’ll be asking the same questions about fidelity, courage, faith, compassion, individualism...

She'll be having a Lesbian affair with her yoga instructor soon. I guess we'll have to read about that too.

do they have editors at CNN?

As the result of liberal policies,

you represent someone who is avoiding creating another basic unit in our stable society - a family.

I realize that I've only read the excerpt posted here but it seems to me that the problem in this marriage is that this Ellen person is a shrieking bitch.

Hey I’m no oil painting and I have the etiquette of most men but somehow my wife loves me more than ever and she is happy. Maybe I have some sort of magical touch or is it that she is just a good person with a good attitude who doesn’t expect perfection out of everyone else and not herself. Maybe she is living her dream because her dream was to marry a man for life, raise children, love God and grow older with grace and charm. Heck I married above myself!

Damn!

My husband is a man. And I regocnize that. I don’t expect him to act like my girlfriend. I love and treasure him for who he is. Flaws and all. Because in the end, nothing is more sexy than watching you husband struggle to become a better person for you.

What an insane longwinded bit of drabble that was... Hey B$tch, I want my 10 minutes back wasted on that article... Fact you have a man at all willing to walk by your side, let alone have children with you, with the attitude you’ve just publicly shown, you are amazingly lucky.

As to being hot in your 40s 50s and 60s... Good luck with that one, you’ll find the fish in the sea willing to “hit that” ain’t even close to what your magazines lead you to believe.

Exactly how I picture a typical NY female lib.

Poor bastard (her husband) should go find some happy 20 year old ;-)

I have to agree to being a night owl and sluggard but I don’t with menopause Mabel and her witchy rant against her husband on CNN. She should be grateful he even said yet to her in the first place. She’s no catch.

Let me guess - you're a morning person. Naturally you think that such a relatively meaningless quality is proof of your superiority. To the rest of the world, it has relatively little bearing on whether you "get things done".

If women like that can be persuaded not to want to marry or have children, then our problems are solved. There will be less chance for men to mistakenly marry one of them.

I’m OK with the single and solvent...the celibate part is a bit much.

First rule of dating....always at her place, never your place.

If so many people are not getting married, or getting divorces, maybe this writer is correct- maybe marriage is a passing phenomenon, slowly becoming irrelevant in our world.
