Here's the facts of life

1. For the most part, only a married couple can have multiple children and raise them into productive adults. A single mom may be able to raise one child into a good adult, or be able to spawn a pack of wild animals
2. The only thing that allows a single woman to survive independently is that this is a modern technological society -- whose continued existence as such is dependent upon successfully raising the next generation of productive citizens
