Specific, real life, example of the Palin Effect...
vanity

Posted on 08/31/2008 6:55:42 AM PDT by repubzilla

OK-My family went over to my parents for dinner last night...I'm a bit slow today-(I toasted the Palin choice a wee bit much) My father was a Mitt fan-I, by the way, called for Palin months ago. He came over to her quickly I must say... They told us about their neighbor, who happens to be a fairly liberal (although she voted for Reagan), college Prof, in her late 40's...oh and is also a lesbian. She came by and they were chatting and she starts going on and on about how great it is that Mccain picked Palin...really excited! AND that she will vote for him!

Well, I know this is only one example-but hey!

I’ll be happier about a surge in support from conservatives and moderates than one from liberals.

I know from people in my family and I work with, that a lot of democrats are far from liberal. They vote for democrats because their parents were democrats or because they don't pay enough attention to politics to hear anything more than the RAT talking points, which say that Republicans will take away their social security or let people die in the next hurricane. If they are forced to stop and defend a position, they will often find they don't really agree with the party positions.

I’ll trump all of you for feel-good stories about the Palin pick.

On Friday evening, I was out with some friends from work. There was a doctor with us who is an African-American female. SHE was totally excited about the Palin pick and was talking about how she’s thinking about voting for McCain because of it. I was shocked!

so that he has the motivation to carry our water instead of theirs, that’s all.

After Barry's performance in Denver, many realize his answer to all things will be 'more government'. Well, how's that been working in areas like education, jobs, energy, health, poverty, etc.?

Point is: more government hasn't been the solution to a lot of problems and many on the left may be seeing this for the first time and- 'seeing it' through Sarah's eyes gives it credence because she seems so, I don't know, genuine, the real deal?

"But Daddy, you said..."
"I know honey, but sometimes Daddy has to say nice things about other people, now listen, if you want to grow up to be like Sarah, that's ok with me, just don't tell your Momma I said that, ok?"
"Daddy?"
"What is it, sweetie?"
"Do I have to eat this ar, arug, arugula stuff?"
"No darlin', you can shovel it on my plate."

My small story.....

Out shopping and in the dressing room when my daughter called from out of town......

Gave daughter an update regarding Palin choice.

Saleslady was outside the door and listening.....

When I came out, lady started asking me questions.
Turns out she had been paying little or no attention to election.

Bottom line is that the lady IS paying attention NOW..

I see more of Susanne Pleshette.

I KNEW she reminded me of someone. Although I can see a resemblance to Tina Fey, also.

rescuing the Republican party for years to come, and for being the father of the post-boomer Republican party. A generation of Palins, Jindals, Cantors, etc.

I think this is why I was so filled with emotion with the announcement. The woman thing is really secondary to me, but the future of conservatism and the future of the party are not. I could see all kinds of changes and good things to come with Palin, Jindal, etc. It's shaping up to be a very good future for the US.

Wanna feel good? Take a look at: Aol Strawpoll

I'm really irritated at McCain for picking Sarah Palin.

I had all but given up politics and now I'm riveted again.
