The Anchorage Daily News reported on August 6, 2006, during Palin's gubernatorial run:

Palin said she has smoked marijuana -- remember, it was legal under state law, she said, even if illegal under U.S. law -- but says she didn't like it and doesn't smoke it now. "I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled."

As time marches on, it will be harder and harder to find candidates who have not "experimented" with drugs, has premarital sex, etc.

I attended the U of Wis in the late 70s and was probably one of the 5% of students who did not try illicit drugs.

I read today that Obama had a 49-43 gallup edge over McCain. I sincerely hope that McCain can take an active approach to making an issue of the democrats utter classlessness vis-a-vis Palin and Hurricane Gustave.

People who don't do drugs can't handle unreality.

hahahaha. You’re right.

Every neg that they bring up on her, can be turned around into a positive.

She’s a person who already has life time experience on alot of personal issues.

I liked Condi Rice...but her being single....really made her one dimensional.

Sarah, is truly more WORLDLY than Obama even McCain because people from all over the world can identify with her.

Hopefully, they’ll split soon on the campaign trail and Mac will let her be herself..

Boy they are throwing everything including the kitchen sink! I have news for America, if you graduated from public school between the years of 1970 and 1988 you have probably been around it and or partaken of it at sometime in your younger years. If you never were then you would me in the minority of our age group.

“I can’t claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled.”

I think he actually said, “That’s the idea, isn’t it. To inhale.”

Especially with Gen-X so apparently eager to get into politics. Baby boomers (Bush, Clinton) might have felt the need to hide it or downplay it, but Genetion X (Palin, Obama) will out-right flaunt it.

What is up with the rash of rash of negative Paulin posts by you today?

jrooney,
I'm sure some at FR will see this particular post as negative.

Because IMHO, it's a positive because of the
1. Honesty
2. Admission she tried marijuana like most of the folks that went
off to college for the last couple of generations
3. The statement that she turned away from marijuana...
and has gone on to what many folks would call "A Wonderful Life".
(which had it's dark/negative moments as well!)

So she's for state's rights, too!

Obama technically is a baby boomer the baby boom ended in 1964. Only Palin is the Gen X-er. :)

He’s right on that edge... Some people call the sub-generation “generation Jones” but either way he’s right on the cusp that implies some kind of mixed influence. I definitely see some of both... the boomer entitlement and some of the Xer rebelliousness
