Members of 'Fringe' Alaskan Independence Party Say Palin Was a Member in 90s (New leftist attack)
ABC News ^ | 9/01/08 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 09/01/2008 5:26:49 PM PDT by buckeye12

The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

Sarah Palin has crabs! /s

Don't give the left any more ideas. They are already in a hole, and ordered a bigger backhoe.

As to this AIP nonsense...she became a Republican, after all. She has expressed approval of Ron Paul (saw that on youtube) and there’s a reformist libertarian streak in her; one senses a healthy distrust of government, and a good old-fashioned regionalism. This can only help us with the independent voters.
She also expressed approval of Mitt Romney, too, which is surprising.

What a hoot.

As with the question of qualifications and experience, I say, if the Dems and the media want to dig into the past associations of Governor Palin, BRING IT ON.

This is yet another debate THEY CANNOT WIN AND DO NOT WANT OPENED TO THE LIGHT OF SERIOUS INSPECTION. Just let them ask either her or McCain about such things in the debates. They’ll be sorry they ever even thought about it.

Re: 103

I am actually optimistic that the Repubs will take this one, primarily because of the ineptitude of the DNC. It was a given that the MSM was going to be in the tank for them (as they are an arm of the DNC), but I was surprised to discover the shallowness of Mr. Obama (unless he's been sandbagging until the October). I thought he was a good speaker -- but it appears if he is without his teleprompter he is a mumbler and a stumbler. He may be intelligent -- but he's hamstrung by the knowledge that he can't say what he really plans -- because Americans probably won't cotten' to the idea of an outright Marxist takeover - thus when he speaks, he comes across as incoherent.
Likewise, Mr. Biden was a terrible choice for VEEP. I've seen him on the Senate subcommittees. He just comes across as a posturing bully. Not too bright -- but able to browbeat people sitting in the defensive seat...I suspect someone like Mrs. Palin will be able to slap him down and reveal him for what he is...

And on the other hand, Mr. McCain appears to be a lot sharper than I thought. And I think Mrs. Palin is a fantastic pick.

All of that said, I really want to beat this 'Black Liberation Theology' drum for several reasons:

A) It reveals that Mr. Obama is absolutely the wrong man to be in National office. Someone who sat in those pews for 20 years, and shows no remorse for having done so - is dangerous. He's been indoctrinated with hatred, and I don't care how polished and 'nice' he comes across -- you can't absorb 20 years of poison without repentance (and rebirth) - and not show the effects.

B) The poor people who are 'trapped', or somehow feel compelled to be a member of this 'church', need to hear and understand that it is wrong. To my disgust, I didn't hear any of that here in the SF Bay area. Just a shoulder shrug, and a 'so what', when they slightly touched on the 'Rev. Wright's' diatribes. Again, no explanation of what the 'Black Liberation Theology' actually teaches, but also no repudiation of Mr. Wright's 'sermons'...

C) In general people need to understand that a Church is a place to worship our Creator God. It is not a place for politics (for either party). We are all sinners in need of forgiveness, and a Redeemer - and Salvation is Color and Nationality and Party blind...

I saw the /s tag, but should have used one on my reply. I know the left trolls here and that would have had them digging for more “accusations” just mentioning it here. Nothing about the nuts at DU, KOS or HUFPO surprises me anymore and they probably think they have another angle at her.

Well, Barack Obama had an African Socialist father and a fellow-traveler mother, was raised as a Muslim in Indonesia, had a communist mentor named Franklin Davis, had two radical leftist terrrorists named Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn give him an early assist in politics, listened to the curious Reverend Wright for 20 years, and got a mortgage through a pal named Rezko who is now under indictment. But none of that seems to matter.

In ABC’s favor, they did dig up Reverend Wright.

Like Obama belonging to that anti-American church for 20 years

Not even close. Read the actual article. She was a member for 2 years back in the 90's, and even her fellow party members had no clue as to her opinion on the proposed referendum, which was not a vote to secede. The party chairman admits that many members do not agree with that platform plank, but believe in more Alaskan control over their natural resources and greater privatization of government resources. That sounds like something a lot here would agree with as well for their states.

The left wing wack jobs on DU and Kos are mostly druggies, and unemployed, and sit in their asses all day online trolling and spamming blogs leaving comments with their talking points.

yep

"Kos' followers [left wing wack jobs] -- called "Kossacks" -- include over 125,000 registered users and hundreds of "diarists" or bloggers, five of them paid "fellows". Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are all DailyKos diarists. Honestly, Jake Tapper has been awesome this election cycle. He is one of the best as far as Journalism goes. I don't know if he is a lib or not.. but he is darn near the only MSM that is consistently digging into the truth about Obama.

Sarah is front and center now and everyone is checking the details just like always happens when someone new comes on the scene.

Jake gets the story and works with facts, not bizarre distortions of the facts. The story is significant, but frankly like everyone else, it just is another check mark in her favor. She became a Republican and cleaned house rather than sucking up to the most vile creatures for "power." This is the act of an adult who actually desires to get something done and not just tilt at windmills.

You will notice she switched to the Republican's when the conservatives moved into power as Republicans in Alaska.

The AIP lost its power and energy because its stars and worker bees became Republicans. Why did this happen. Think Newt Gingrich and the 1994 election that changed the direction of the Republican party for a time. This is why Sarah could move into the Republican party and have support from the folks that came from AIP at her back to shake up and clean out the old guard who had accepted back seat for so many years.

They do take time out the see their therapist (according to them). I'm sure we are paying for that too. Some of them actually call themselves teachers (that's scary!). They are as a whole a mental case!

AIP “story” already debunked...
in the same story that started it ( http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/members-of -frin.html ):

“Governor Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982,” Rogers says, providing some voter registration documentation showing her to be a Republican. “As you know, if she changed her registration, there would have been some record of it. There isn’t.”

Rogers says the McCain campaign provided ABC News with all the voter registration information that exists. Rogers says that Palin didn’t attend the AIP convention in 1994, “but she visited them when they had their convention in Wasilla in 2000 as a courtesy since she was mayor.”

He would not comment as to why AIP officials are so convinced Palin was a member of their party. When asked if Palin ever identified herself as a member of the AIP, Rogers said, “No, she’s a lifelong Republican.”

The leftists are flailing now and missing with every wild haymaker.

The idiot David Shuster actually said last night that “Sarah Palin wants Alaska to succeed.” He was trying to make it a negative but he clearly misheard what was being piped to his ear piece.

McCain campaign:
Palin a Republican since 1982; Update: Documentationposted at 12:05 pm on September 2, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

A day after ABC News requested a response from Palin as to whether she was ever a member of the AIP, McCain campain spox Brian Rogers told ABC News that Clark’s “allegations are false.”

(Am glad Gov. Palin was not mixed up with any of the
anti war third party Paul, Baldwin, Barr folks)
