After watching debacle after debacle these last few days, I can't help but think that if Russert was still alive none of this crap would still be happening. Tim was a Democrat, but a fairly down the middle Democrat. He would absolute come down hard on this garbage the media is doing now.
A real shame his guiding hand is not there right now as it has become the wild west in reporting. Very sad indeed.
I liked Russert as many others. He was the head cheese of the news division and put all the players in place that we’re bitching about. He is responsible for setting the table for the mess that is MSNBC news(and NBC).
It seems there is no one at that organization willing to take the high road now that Russert is gone.
Russert's interview of Bush back in 2004 was as crass as ever.
I'm with you, Russert tolerated and played the liberal spin machine quite well himself. A master at weaving dimocrat talking points.
People here seem to have rather short memories.
He may have been the best turd in the pile, but the best turd still stinks.
Hold on to your rosary, stand in line for Communion and be pro-death and God bless him but he should have got out of line.
Russert was no saint, but he was better than what is there now.
I can disagree with a guy who has a little class, even respect him as an enemy. Subtract the class and you end up with nothing but animosity, and there is a danger that it will escalate from there.
I’m increasingly pessimistic that the discourse can or should be kept civil...and in that aspect, I miss Russert.
He hired most of these people.
He was Washington bureau chief.
That is actually not true. He was bureau chief over NBC News which, if I understand it correctly, did not cover MSNBC.
If I’m wrong, I apologize. I thought MSNBC was left for a long time, but it has taken a hard left since Russert died.
Don’t kid yourself, Russert was always much tougher on Democrats than Republicans. I was never a fan of his, that’s for sure.
Agreed.
And BTW, I really wish Tony Snow was still around as well. He would be tons better as McCain’s press secretary.
Guess their both covering the story for Heaven TV.
Quit drinking the Russert Kool-Aid.
LOL, I’m sure anything less than drooling adoration seems “tough” to democrats.
???
SORRY, but I challenge!!! Tim would have been attacking her just like the others, he was just another dirty democrat...GOD REST HIS SOUL
The MSM has now devolved to the level of the British tabloids. Fortunately, the better class of Americans gets its news from the Internet now, and isn’t paying any attention.
Why the questions marks?I took it for granted you knew I was talking about Tim,Joe,Nancy, etc.I said a Hail Mary for each.Chris Matthews listen,Go to confession as a Catholic-it’s easy.Chris every time you delay and hold your position many children die.Do it now.

Fitz objects: "If we're going to read it, let's read it accurately." Sidebar.
It's 1:46.
W: Do you recall whether the Today show reported that Libby would be
T: I don't.

W: If Ann Curry had reported this on the Today show, would you know about it, based on pattern and practice?
T: This is credited to the NY Times, so not if we didn't have the story.
W: But this was a big story, right? And Pete Williams discus
T: That morning, no.
W: This could have happened without you knowing?
T: If I'm away, or working on something else, or another big story… I don't know.
W: Remember the phrase "first time in a hundred years"?
T: No.
W: You don't remember talking about this on Today show?

W: How many times do you appear on the Today show to discuss possible indictment of chief of staff of VP, in a case where you were involved — first time in your life, right?
T: Yes.
W: So you don't recall
T: No. I do recall watching (Fitzgerald) news conference and discussing it with Brian Williams. (is shown Today show transcript) I don't recall this, sorry.
W: You read NY Times every day, right? Washington Post?
T: Yes.
W: Fair to say if they had stories saying Libby was to be indicted, you would have read that?
T: Yes.
W: (shows news stories) Does this refresh your memory, is it fair to say you were aware of stories saying Libby would have been indicted?
T: I may well have been.
W: Given your personal involvement… you have no recollection of that day?

W: Do you have a bad memory?
T: No.
no he didn’t
Selective amnesia.
.
Get your memory straight-—Russert was a big Lib!
He just covered it better than most today (out of
necessity. It wasn’t quite as openly rampant 8,
or so, years ago).
Don’t be fooled.
>> “Russert’s interview of Bush back in 2004 was as crass as ever” <<
.
Absolutely, and there was no need for it, Bush was one of them to the hilt.
