MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channels coverage of the election.
That experiment appears to be over.
After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
The change which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle is a direct result of tensions associated with the channels perceived shift to the political left.
The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into whats supposed to be straight news programming, said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Let’s tell the DUer’s that they can have O’Reilly, with our blessings!
Okay FReepers, I think we should adopt a new song. We can steal it. It is approved by the Liberals. All together now...”We shall overcoooome, we shall overcoooome, we shall overcome some day, soooome day...”!!!
Some lady in chat just mentioned that Olberman was nasty to steve doocys boy during the convention. Anyone else hear about that?
LOL I bet Steve’s kid was messing with him.
Steve’s son Peter went out and was asking the protesters all kinds of political questions...
Say like.. “Who is the current Vice President” and “Do you know why you’re protesting?”
Most could not answer.
DU is already calling for a boycott of David Gregory. Looks like he’s the real “monkey-in-the-middle”.
I would say America has been PALINIZED :)
_____________
Yep, and we need to keep to the BIG MO going.
I’m guessing it also has to do with Palin giving her interview to ABC. Perhaps there were some suggestions made to MSNBC as to why they probably weren’t even under consideration.
The other possibility is that Olbermann and Matthews simply can’t play nice, even with their network-mates, and the atmosphere became to poisoned.
Any way it cuts, these guys just got punk’d.
Just like standing on the Gulf Coast and "perceiving" the wind from Hurricane Gustav.
Palin....day one....splash two....
LOL
And not living in reality at that.
You look at that transcript and they have no idea Palins speech just led to a 13 point swing in the polls....and how they were shocked they targeted the media.
Thank you to the powers that be for demoting Matthews and especially Olbermann, who is actually the lowest form of humanity...
I knew an anchor that used to get so mad at the White House Press Briefings.
He claimed the press wasn’t asking enough tough questions of whatever Republican was at the podium.
Gee whiz - presstitutes and FRAUDcasters might be starting to get the idea that we small people really don’t enjoy their biased reporting.
I hope this trend of reporterettes whining about being written letters pointing out their bias and producers changing anchors, etc, doesn’t continue. If it does, people might start watching their drivel and reading and buying newspapers again.
I don’t want to see that happen until there is a complete collapse of their stock prices and sales of their meager remaining assets to someone actually committed to reporting the NEWS rather than trying to shape public opinion.
Kinda like installing a new toilet seat.....it’s still a toilet.
