Typically posted in the religion dungeon, I thought that Fr. Z's comments would be appropriate for "News," considering the election season.

Excuse me, senator, but taking money from me by threat of force to fund ludicrous leftist schemes that always fail while imposing upon me curtailment of my freedom to defend myself, my freedom of association, my freedom to use my property as I see fit, to go where I want when I want, to worship anywhere I want anytime I want, all sounds like you imposing your Leftist Marxist views upon me, and very forcefully at that.

Substitute “murder” for “abortion”, and the fallacy of his arguments become clearer. Governments universally take a role in identifying murders, judging them and punishing them. Implicit in those judgments is the determination that the victim is a human being. One cannot murder a “thing”.

For adult victims, it would be strange to argue that this determination is a private, personal matter. At how young an age does it become one, and why?

More brilliant analysis from Fr. Z.

I watched that interview this morning, and I’m nominating Joe Biden to be a contestant on the next cycle of “Dancing With the Stars”.

I happened to be watching this part of the Biden interview this AM and couldn't believe Biden’s twisted contortions sticking both feet in his mouth at the same time. Essentially saying that he believes abortion is the taking of a human life but since it is only his religion that leads him to believe this that it is fine by him that the government he is a part of not only does nothing to prohibit this type of murder but actively promotes it.

It’s amazing that he can go from conception, to the beginning of life (whenever that is for him - I honestly can’t tell), to fascism all in a few sentences. He’s either a moron or has a severe affliction of attention deficit disorder.

Two weeks ago, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was on MTP and committed scandal on a grand scale by her obfuscation of what the Church’s teaching is about the beginning of human life.

Funny thing. My Catholic priest absolutely skewered Nancy Pelosi today during his homily. I almost stood and cheered. There was a look of shock on many faces. Priceless.

Good comments by Fr. Z on incredibly stupid remarks by Biden.

How the heck did he manage to work “fascism” in there? I guess he’s trying to tell us that anti-abortionists are fascists. What a dope.
