Obama: McCain-Palin change mantra is 'lipstick on a pig'

LEBANON, Virginia (AFP) — Democrat Barack Obama late Tuesday launched his most scathing attack yet on his Republican White House rivals' reformist credentials, likening their approach to putting "lipstick on a pig."

"We've been talking about change when we were up in the polls and when we were down in the polls," Obama told a rally here as surveys suggested John McCain and Sarah Palin have overhauled his lead for the November 4 election.

"The other side, suddenly, they're saying 'we're for change too.' Now think about it, these are the same folks that have been in charge for the last eight years," the Illinois senator said to a crowd of 2,400 people.

"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough," he exclaimed to a standing ovation.

In accepting the party's vice presidential nomination, Alaska Governor Palin joked at the Republican convention last week that the only difference between a hockey mom like herself and a pitbull was "lipstick."

True to the pitbull tag, Palin has been savaging Obama daily on the campaign trail as McCain presents their Republican ticket as true change that will shake up Washington, salvage the economy and protect the nation from foreign threats.

While Obama rallied voters in Lebanon, Virginia, the Republicans earlier were in Lebanon, Ohio, where Palin repeated her widely queried claim that she had said "thanks, but no thanks" to a notorious "bridge to nowhere" in Alaska.

This was a speech right? So he had a teleprompter? So they actually wrote this and thought it was a good idea?

Clueless. Clueless!

Senator McCain and Governor Palin were in Lebanon, Ohio today. Senator OBama was in a section of Dayton, Ohio before traveling to Virginia.

It is over. There is no way to spin this. it is over. and for some reason.... I do not feel any joy. I am ashamed that this skunk ever got to have a chance to have a legit shot at the Presidency.

These are such times of peril in American history.

more so than the Joe McCarthy era.

Hi, we’re here live with Presidential candidate Barrack Obama. Mr. Obama, why did you call Sarah Palin a pig?

“ah, uh, that’s, ah, er, ah, uh, not, that’s ah, let me, uh, ah, er, duh, set the record, ah, uh, er, a, what I meant to, ah, uh,....”

Sorry, Barry, we’re up against a hard break, can you hold on through the commercial?

“ah, uh, well, ah, uh, huh?”

We’ll be right back.

What were those words that Hillary said to Bill Richardson after he stab her in the back.... I think it was ‘He can’t Bill, he just can’t win’.

Even Hillary can attack him now. IT IS WAY OVER!!!!

See ya Barry... Wouldn’t want to be ya.

A bone headed statement if I ever heard one. He’s getting REAL nervous over Palin . Be prepared folks. If Obama looses the election ( which is now possible ) there will be riots in the streets and the left will go totally ballistic . I see some rough road ahead.
