Are You Too Dumb to Understand Evolution?
CreationEvolutionHeadlines ^ | September 10, 2008

Sept 10, 2008 — Astrobiologist David Deamer believes that life can spontaneously emerge without design, but he thinks lay people are too uneducated to understand how this is possible, so he gives them the watered-down version of Darwin’s natural selection instead, which he knows is inadequate to explain the complexity of life. That’s what he seemed to be telling reporter Susan Mazur in an interview for the Scoop (New Zealand). Is the lay public really too dense for the deeper knowledge of how evolution works?...

What kind of animals did we come from? Apes and monkeys? Because if that’s the case, they do still exist.

We share a common ancestor with the other great apes and primates in existence today. But we did not evolve from any of them.

In fact, my understand of the fossils that have been found and were interpreted to be cro-magnin or neanderthal were apes and monkeys such as “Lucy” and the fake “Piltdown Man.” Is this correct?

No, it isn't. Lucy is a perfectlly legitimate fossil of an extinct hominid species. There are perhaps dozens, if not hundreds, of neanderthal fossils. Piltdown Man was a hoax perpetrated by an unknown person.

If Americans came from Europe, how come there are still Europeans?

If h He won't explain the details to me, should I just accept h His assertions on faith?

fixed.

Ahh, but that's the difference. "He" did layout the details (limited, of course, as history at the time was recorded in a purely verbal manner) and "His" *is* a religion and not thinly veiled as *science*. Furthermore, He comes right out in the open and asks you to accept Him on faith. If only the high priests of evolution had such confidence in their religion to do the same.

Which means that we can't actually observe it taking place. Which means our only evidence for it is forensic, and therefore open to subjective interpretation.

Nobody who actually observed the murders of Ron and Nicole gave testimony implicating OJ Simpson, and all they had was forensic evidence subject to subjective interpretation. I don't see why people sneered at the jury for acquitting him.

Hey, don’t confuse these people when they are on a roll.

The affirmatives were winning handily.

No monkey/primate ever worshipped a God.. if man evolved from primates to finally invent God then not believing in God is devolution.. and a throwback..

Therefore not beliveing that God created the Universe is monkey like and apeing behavior..
That is IF man evolved from apes.. RAP music does seem to mimic chimp social behaviors though.. posturing, making noises, walking off emotional tensions, shakeing bushes, facial and limb contortions, sexual positioning.. Its a hard choice..

Because the forensic evidence implicating OJ, unlike that used to support evolution, was strong and unambiguous enough that posteriori observers were not required to live in a socially-autistic self-contained fact space for it to appear as such.

This Freeper believes himself singularly able to determine what is and is not worthy of debate in this matter so maybe we should simply refer all questions to him...

‘The evolutionists are also starting to sound a bit like the climate-change crowd, “It’s settled and there is no reason for dabate”.’

Reply:

I’ve noticed that is a common theme now. Smear people who understand and acknowledge the legitimacy of the theory of evolution as ignorant scammers like the GW crowd.

You arguement is SO weak that is what you have to resort to.

Nothing is settled with respect to the theory of evolution but if you expect real scientists to entertain physical impossibilites and stories of magic as legitmate positions from which to debate science, you have no place in such a debate.

Because the monkeys have not descended?

I don’t believe we have a good theory on how life BEGAN. We can assume an intelligent creator or randomness but neither has been proven.

However, after life began, evolution is a solid theory.

We did not evolve from animals living today, but from a common ancestor. The majority of prehistoric animal fossils have not been preserved.

“Now here is a guy that says that anyone who doesn’t understand how life can form spontaneously is an idiot.”

Shoot, I learned about this early when I was taught how to clean up my room. It is simple. If you don’t vacuum under the bed at least once a year the furry things that accumulate there grow into monsters that grab your feet when you get out of bed in the morning. That’s why you always give a little jump rather than just haphazardly dangle your feet over the side when you get up.

Since the “races” are different, some MUST be more evolved than others, according to the theory.

Therefore, some races are SUPERIOR to others.
This was the assertion of the biology book in question in the Scopes trial.

"The odds of evolution happening exceeds the number of the stars in the universe."

Actually it exceeds the number of electrons and protons in the universe, and even that comes from a greatly simplified calculation, ommiting many complications that cannot be easily quantified.

Once upon a time I was "smart" and believed in evolution. My attitude toward those who didn't believe was that of a city dweller looking at a hut dweller and sneering and mocking at them because they lived in huts and not houses.

And then one day I discovered that the hut dwellers had something that I didn't. And so I started living in a hut. After a while I realized that I had never really truly lived in a house. I realized that I had lived in a hut all the time. I realized that others had convinced me that I had a big house that I had once lived in. And then I realized that these liars who had convinced me also lived in huts and were also being lied to.

And then I found out that the lie was started by someone who had been kicked out of the village.
