"Shovel your ratings" might have been Morning Joe's unstated message to Keith Olbermann today. With the latest ratings showing Rachel Maddow's new MSNBC show beating Olbermann's Countdown, the MJ panel went out of its way to congratulate Maddow on her success, repeatedly mentioning what a "good person" she is and how nice it is to see such people do well.
The crew was riffing off the Drudge headline "Move Over, Olbermann, Rachel Maddow Tops MSNBC Ratings." As seen in the Drudge screencap [after the jump], on Tuesday Maddow beat Olbermann--the perennial MSNBC ratings leader--by a count of 1.8 million to 1.63 million. She also bested CNN's Larry King, among others. Scarborough & Co. never mentioned Olbermann by name. But the invidious-comparison-by-omission in their pointed praise of Maddow's good-personhood left no doubt that the wounds opened by Olbermann's open-mic slap at Scarborough, in which, during the Dem convention, he told Joe to "get a shovel" for remarks too pro-GOP for Keith's liking, have yet to heal.

The only people that watch MSNBC are Doctors offices. Every office I go to, my Dentist, my wife’s allergist, my endiotontist ALL had MSNBC on. I asked my Dentists office if I could change the channel to something else. they said “sure” and all I could get was “Barney the purple Dinosauer”. So I watched that. At least Barney doesn’t trash Palin.

Joe Scarborough has turned out to be a disgrace.
For him to give props to someone like Maddow - even in comparison to the deranged Olbermann is unbelievable.
He is nothing but a wannabee something.
Note that the camera NEVER will show a profile of Scarborough - he’s got a nose like pinocchio.
Maddow is a drunk. Is that a neck or an extension pole?
MSNBC now thinks what goes on at MSNBC is important? Is this news, or another episode of “Thirty Rock”?
She seems to have the same vocal phrasing that Olbermann has. I’ve listned to her twice and it seemed to me that she was just a female Olbermann but not as mean.
It is as if she is intentionally emulating some of what Olbermann does...
This Rachel guy may have a funny name for a dude be he’s got a better hair cut and closer shave than Olby. Of course being top dog on MSNBC is sort of like being the richest homeless guy on the block.
