"Shovel your ratings" might have been Morning Joe's unstated message to Keith Olbermann today. With the latest ratings showing Rachel Maddow's new MSNBC show beating Olbermann's Countdown, the MJ panel went out of its way to congratulate Maddow on her success, repeatedly mentioning what a "good person" she is and how nice it is to see such people do well.
The crew was riffing off the Drudge headline "Move Over, Olbermann, Rachel Maddow Tops MSNBC Ratings." As seen in the Drudge screencap [after the jump], on Tuesday Maddow beat Olbermann--the perennial MSNBC ratings leader--by a count of 1.8 million to 1.63 million. She also bested CNN's Larry King, among others. Scarborough & Co. never mentioned Olbermann by name. But the invidious-comparison-by-omission in their pointed praise of Maddow's good-personhood left no doubt that the wounds opened by Olbermann's open-mic slap at Scarborough, in which, during the Dem convention, he told Joe to "get a shovel" for remarks too pro-GOP for Keith's liking, have yet to heal.

At some point someone should ask what the point is of continuing Hardball on the Air.

that is amazing. Hardball’s nationwide audience is just 800,000. I’ll bet the Watching Paint Dry channel has better numbers.
I have to admit, I didn’t even know who this person was until about two weeks ago. I never, ever, ever watch that disgusting cesspool of a channel but recently did, just to see what the enemy was up to. I was stunned at the level of partisan rot. True, the Daily Kos network indeed!
A heart of hatred is within these liberals. I can’t live my life this way, they must be special people in that regard. What a horrible way to live one’s life.

But Joe is not officially a populist.
He hammered Kudlow this morning because Kudlow blamed Congress and the Community Reinvest Act for forcing banks to take sub prime loans.
Pop Joe would have none of that, “you’re blaming poor people for this financial mess”.
Kudlow pointed that it was Congress who passed the act, but Joe insisted on mocking Kudlow, even after he left the set.
Every 8 minuets past the hour The Weather Channel has better ratings than Hardball does.
It must be true that fat ugly people do think they are svelte and handsome.
Who is this guy?
Why would his parents hate him so much as to give him a girl’s name?
