Summary of Obama's debate performance tonight: "I've got a bracelet, too."
PBS ^ | 9/26/2008 | PBS

Barack was the very junior senator on the defensive the entire evening.

After John McCain eloquently (and without notes) discussed the bracelet he wears given to him by the mom of a dead Iraq war vet.

Trying to prove his own support for the troops, Obama chimed in with a pathetic "I've got a bracelet, too," as he looked down at his notes to read the name of the soldier.

I just don’t see many people who have not made up their minds yet. If they are saying that, they are not being honest.

I also have a feeling that friends I have that are left of center may even say they voted for Obama but voted for McCain.

(btw I do not comment on this to them...I sent them an email on why I am a FISCAL CONSERVATIVE last week and told them this will be my only comment on the Election)

I am also convinced that when Bill and Hill go for the photo op at the poll up in Chappaqua that they will vote for
McCain.

Since the followers for Obamination do not have brains, they will give the debate to O. The next couple of days will be interesting, too.

I’ve been watching. Obama kept smirking and demanding via facial expressions for chances to rebut what McCain said. He never was able to rebut McCain’s “Obama is naive” points. McCain was smiling and was hitting him hard on points about Russia in Georgia and his claims of talking to bad guys without pre=conditions. I was very worried the first 30 minutes, but I think McCain scored well thereafter.

My favorite part was when McCain went on that amazing discourse about what the situation is in each of the former Soviet Republics, and BO could only respond with, "Well, sure we agree on that stuff."

I wish McCain had replied, "So you agree on that, then repeat it back to me."

Hate to say this folks, but Obama came off looking better. McCain kept that smirk on his face, and refused to look at Obama. Obama had much better body language, looked directly at his opponent, etc.

Again, I really hate to say but IMHO the mm will call this one a big win for Obama.

I’m p*ssed about him talking over McCain! The moderator should’ve told him to shut up and turned his mike off! It just shows that he has no manners.

"McCain showed his bracelet when he mentioned it."

Are you sure? I must have missed it. I'm working at the same time, but thought I was watching that moment. Well if McCain had his on, he seriously should have driven the point home because Barry most definitely did NOT have a dead soldiers bracelet touching his magnificent skin.......

Missed opportunity and THAT could have been the "moment" that never really happened in this debate.

"One thing different between myself and Senator Obama, I wear my bracelet"

Be careful now ~ don't get overconfident. After all Obama’s audience is quite naive.

I don’t think many minds were changed tonight. Barry did better than I thought he would, but McCain hit him hard on his lack of experience and naiveté, and poor judgment.

Barry kept calling McCain “John”, which was very annoying and disrespectful.

Barry tried to say he knew Henry Kissinger’s position and McCain hit him hard on that saying he has been a friend of Kissinger for 35 years. That made Barry look foolish.

Did I also hear Obama offer 1 billion to Georgia to help them rebuild their infurstucture? ( i might be crazy but is there a reason OBAMA in not in FR spell check)

I have to agree with Gunny, McCain had the opportunity to hit a homerun on bailout questions with a clear and concise explanation of what the House conservatives are have as an alternative plan. John flopped, looked hesitant in his attacks and stumbled around on several comments.

Dear God, thy will be done and come to our aid in turning this around. Amen

You were at the game. You tell us.

Catholic school was playing - everyone I was with, and friends I ran into, don't need to watch the debate. None of them would ever vote for Obama. A couple will need a stiff drink, however, before voting for McCain.

Yeah, that was a rather weak moment, but I gotta say.... McCain should not have brought it up if he didn't have that bracelet on his wrist.

After BHO said his "I've got a bracelet too" thing, I was truly waiting for McCain to pull his sleave up and follow with: "But, I'm wearing mine"

I don't know what you were watching. Senator McCain clearly showed his bracelet to everyone!

The difference between McCain and Obama can be boiled down to this:

McCain wears a remembrance of a fallen comrade. Obama wears a piece of jewelry!

One of my favorite lines was when McCain said that Obamabi keeps emphasizing Afghanistan but he’s never taken the time to visit Afghanistan.
