Summary of Obama's debate performance tonight: "I've got a bracelet, too."
PBS ^ | 9/26/2008 | PBS

Barack was the very junior senator on the defensive the entire evening.

After John McCain eloquently (and without notes) discussed the bracelet he wears given to him by the mom of a dead Iraq war vet.

Trying to prove his own support for the troops, Obama chimed in with a pathetic "I've got a bracelet, too," as he looked down at his notes to read the name of the soldier.

I don’t think it was a big win for Obama,

but he did better than I thought he would.

He’s got that old “taking the eye of Afghanistan” thing down cold. Doesn’t matter if its partial bull, the public has heard that talking point for years.

But Obama did not come off as a “child.” He did no less worse on the economy in the beginning than McCain.

McCain spored “comfort zone” points at the end.

Yes I too noticed that he stumbled on the name and had to look at his notes. Was anyone else p*ssed about him talking over McCain so often? I thought it showed him very rude and impatient.

BO just confirmed the stereotype held by white voters who are offended by the loud and boisterous young males of color at the mall.

He lost the cracker vote tonight.

Yes I did. Did you? McCain did so, so. The messiah did quite well. I underestimated the ebony rescuer of America. I think we’re all being too confident and I am hoping for the Sarahcuda to bail us out of this clusterfrak!

Rather than watching the debate, I listened to it. It seemed as if Obama was continually interrupting McCain. Afterward, the commentators on Fox said that Obama was mocking and smirking and muttering “not true”. Was this truly noticeable? Might this not be similar to Gore’s sighing? Just curious. BTW, McCain sounded like a statesman; Obama like a street-smart thug.

McCain held up the bracelet so you could see it on camera.

“I have to agree with Gunny, McCain had the opportunity to hit a homerun on bailout questions”

Because he is no different than Obama.

Both know what public opinion is currently. That’s why they stumbled.

I really don’t think so.
Obama kept to his mantra of Bush’s failed policies and blaming the Republican administration for everything, but we all know, that is a tired and old song. It just isn’t true that President Bush is to blame for all that he is accused of.

Obama kept trying to put McCain on his heels but was unsuccessful. Obama kept attacking but made little headway.
Obama tried to behave ‘presidential’ but failed. He was rude, he smirked, he interrupted the moderator and his opponent.

McCain got to him, got under his skin. Obama was visibly upset and agitated.

Clearly, Obama is not ready for the Presidency.

Obama says he is about “change” and looking to the future whereas McCain is about the past. The question is are Americans ready for “change” from some naive junior senator with NO clear past and wisdom of experience or do they at this perilous time in the history of the country need the guy with REAL experience, wisdom, and actionable knowledge of what he is talking about.

I’ve been watching the wrapups. These ****ing MSM types are somehow spinning this in favor of Obama?????? Huh????? This is surreal. Golly, it was like a man versus a sissy professor out there. Do these people MSM people live on this planet?

Didn’t help seeing George Will wussing out again and trying to get invited to more beltway cocktail parties.

Intrade thinks McCain won.

No Graph Available!

(Since FR likes this Intrade result, there is no need here to assert without evidence that Intrade is worthless, or cite its failure to mind-read McCain's Veep choice).

With all due respect to a veteran FReeper, I disagree on the gaffe.
I had an OsamaObama supporter over and he left before it was over without much enthusiasm.
The “I’ve got a bracelet, too” remark is sure to leave a mark.
