Most of the people being discussed have it arranged so they have assets outside the States untraceable by Uncle Sam and usable in ways not traceable on exchange. I know guys who make a very good living setting these deals up. It is not that hard or expensive. Oh and some of their best clients are rich libs fleeing with their assets right in front of them.

Give it a few years until the muslim hoards migrate north..

Right now they have a strict immigration policy. Just to get in to Ireland he had to have proof of insurance, bank certified letter that he and I had the funds to support him.

I’d move to Thailand if I could retire.

I can think of a number of countries where I'd like to move to (I'm now retired) but being single and my family here it's kinda difficult.

I have a cousin who moved to a small island in Bocas del Toro which is in northern Panama and he and his wife are building a house there. Their goal is to build guest houses to rent and he would also do charter fishing. They're from Fla and he's alread shipped his boat down there which is good because it's a 20 minute boat ride from Bocas to his island.......

The ignorant comments by a poster above shows how little he knows about the rest of the world and thats unfortunate. People become ex-pats because they worked their butts off all their lives and are tired of the dog eat dog scene here in the U.S. They want nice weather the year round in a tropical atmosphere and a much lower cost of living.

All the articles I've read on ex-pat destinations never indicate a disgust for the U.S. as being a reason for leaving. Their choices have always been based on economics and a more relaxed lifestyle.....

Does anyone watch “House Hunters International” on HGTV?

Of course, they are just “vacation homes”, ha, ha.

People who are contemplating leaving value freedom more than placating the liberal establishment

I remember these same doom and gloom scenarios when the clintons were elected that we were going to be a communist state within a decade.

Tell me what country has better long term prospects than the US? Let' see:

Latin America-- turning more communist by the minute and if the commies don;t get you the drug cartels will

Mideast(Dubai type countries). I don't trust muslims and those area may turn to violent at any time.

Europe/Britain- too many muslims and already socialist

Far east/Indonseasia/Thailand. Too many muslims(indoneasia) and ripe for dictatorships and revolt . If things go down China will nationalize all US interest

Russia- yeah right

Africa- yeah right

Ex- soviet Union countries like Ukraine- 50-50 chance the russkies will come back in

Canada-moving more socialist

That leaves pretty safe countries like Iceland and some remote island countries-fiji. But they have resources (iceland)and bully countries like china/Russia will take them over in a minute if times got bad. The good old USA does not look to bad after all.

PER HGTV most are moving to the Caribbean Islands, Baja California, or Central/South American countries with stable governments.

Just do what my ancestors did after the depression - cash out and bury the money in your garden in fruit jars.

THERE - now it’s safe.

We don’t have as much capitalism in this country, since most of our manufacturing went overseas. The ecofascists closed our oilfields and claimed we don’t have any more resources, so that we had to be our oil overseas.

Now, we just spend, and send money to the Chinese and the Arabs.

They’re not leaving the country, their money is. This is nothing new. There’s hardly a patriotic business onwer left, who pays higher wages here to have american jobs and american-made goods, if they can have it made in china for less.

These folks don’t want to be financially raped, that’s all. They’re going to places like Switzerland and Singapore.

Good time for a Bar Stool Economics reminder:

Under Obama's proposed "tax cut" the poorest 4 would get to drink and walk away with cash money from the bar.

I wonder how many of Obama's own taxpaying supporters understand that he wants to bring back welfare hidden as a "refundable tax credit."

Simply unbelievable. I can understand why McCain may hesitate to really attack Obama's plan given that it would undoubtedly be popular among those currently without a federal income tax burden, but one would have to think that taxpaying "independents" or what not would be aghast.

Then again, there are a lot of mushy-headed ignoramuses in our country these days.

I don’t know. America is where everyone else escapes to. There is not other America to go to. Island nations have high taxes and high costs of living. Poor nations, you gotta pay extra for protection and to grease political palms (plus maybe learn a language).

This is the big issue. Where do the Americans escape to when America becomes blatantly, overtly fascist/socialist?

When Obamination raises taxes on the rich and business, they will move. Then Obamination will be forced to raise taxes on the middle class.

Freedom is on the decline (has been for years) and will be gone under the Obamination.

LMAO when you mentioned singapore. I still say this is all about money.

In 2007, Singapore ranked 141th out of 167 nations by Reporters Without Borders in the Worldwide Press Freedom Index. Government pressure to conform has resulted in the practice of self-censorship by journalists.
