McCain's 'Stop Sarah Palin' strategy working like a charm, polls show
LA Times ^ | 10/2/2008 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 10/02/2008 5:06:36 AM PDT by markomalley

Fresh evidence tonight that the brilliant McCain campaign strategy to lock away the political effervesence of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to stoke overconfidence among the nation's Democrats and set the stage for yet another improbable Arizona comeback is working exactly as planned.

For more than 10 days now the 44-year-old mother of five, who upset the ancient Republican establishment in Alaska two years ago by driving herself to campaign events and talking to pretty much any group that would have her, has been cut off from normal Americans who watched her by the many millions give a spunky speech at the Republican National Convention and then overnight turned her name into seven of the top 10 search terms on Google.

But John McCain's strategists had a better idea than letting Palin be Palin. They set her up with TV reporters born to ask questions until they found some she couldn't answer.

No doubt the campaign's idea was to show the hockey mom was pretty much like any other American who couldn't recall Marbury v Madison if their cellphone depended on it.

Wait, come to think of it, the other vice presidential candidate didn't cite a famous Supreme Court case by name either. But nevermind. We don't want to confuse the conventional Palin story line.

So the pressure is even greater for Thursday night's sole vice presidential debate between Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, the senator from somewhere who wears his hair down pretty much all the time.

Am telling you. I wonder why I come on FR sometimes.
There is massive vote fraud going on, Nobama is a freaking socialist that will drive our country to ruin, and these morons here keep talking about a mythical die-hard conservative republican candidate that is going to come and save them.
Obama is going to win in a cakewalk and these same morons will be shouting at the wind when he takes the country in a down spiral aided by the drive-by media.
McCain might not be the best republican candidate but no one else could have even come close in this election to the Messiah to where McCain is currently.
That’s what people here do not realize and also, their candidates all lost.
Tough it up and put your country first people...

how about this scenario,
Gov. Palin has in fact been acting or doing a Tina Fey in reverse, she is in fact very articulate and in command of the issues from past debates I have seen her do, it has all been a ploy to make her appear an airhead, today she is suddently transformed in front of a massive American audience, into something else, would this translate into a media bias? I think it will.

Scenario 2.
Our economy is truly on the verge of collapse that would make the collapse in the 1920 dwarf by comparison.
in this week that issue is for all practical purposes removed, and the market and financial institutions rebound.
Mccain embarks on a truly informative campaing for the following weeks naming names and making connections to the Obama campaign no lies nor innuendos but facts, how does the media hide those facts?

Yes, another sniveling thread.

Very unseemly, these kind of threads should be banded for the shear embarrassment of it.

The article is pretty funny. I am holding out hope for one more night. I think if Gov Palin can effectively pound the message of look where years of experience has landed us, people will again be in her corner. She should remind the public that, she is not the presidential candidate, Obama hails from the most corrupt and typically “Washington” machine in the country and Bidens foreign policy experience is bad experience and foolish.

I am not. I will be in the resistance. But I think the majority are now Marxists. I think the majority know Obama is a communist and likes it. If I am right he will win and The Constitution will just be a memory. Example the vote last night.

This is an article from the LA Times.

Are there that many FReepers who buy into anything the media says?

Almost every thread has this crap now.
I hear enough bias and stupidity and lies from the MSM to come here and get further down in the dumps reading the same echo chamber albeit from a supposed “conservative point of view”
I left FR during the immigration stuff and came back BECAUSE of the Palin selection. That and McCain’s speech at the convention made me see him in a different light.
McCain truly is a patriot and someone who belives in the goodness of this country and its embarrassing to see how he is treated here.

“Me too. I suppose it’s back to voting for Barr as the least objectionable choice.”

Before you decide to vote for Barr which would only help Obama become President, please wait until you see and hear Sarah this evening.

Sarah is STILL Sarah and will prove tonight that McCain really DID THE RIGHT THING in selecting her as his VP.

Just remember that ANY candidate who does interviews with the liberal media folks faces constant "gotcha" questions that NO candidate they push could even attempt to answer with any form of clarity. Sarah will outshine Biden with (like something Rush would say) her hands tied behind her back and with just half her brain functioning!

He just proved you right on Fox and Friends. Gretechen just asked him if he was going to start attacking Obama especially after Obama has taken the lead and is picking up more steam day by day .. McCain says well we are going to continue our wimpy campaign.

It's not over yet.

Let's wait and see what the House does.

I agree.... allot of folks have degenerated into a bunch of defeatist. Yes I want another Reagan, but sadly he is gone. We have a choice here, Obama or McCain. While I'm not the biggest McCain supporter in the world, the alternative is 100% unacceptable.

Wake up people. Do you really want to hand this country over to Obama?

As disappointed as I am in McCain, I’m still voting for McCain/Palin. No way am I going to live with the guilt of putting Obama in office. No way. Obama is a puppet with strings managed by our country’s enemies.

I love you so much. Thank you.

I truly afraid for my children with BO as president. Not a “I’m scared” and now I’m going back to watching Judge Judy, but actual fear. Fear that there is no where to go to escape the Marxists, or that they will be blown up at the mall

I don’t like McCain, never did. But I’m back to voting AGAINST 0bama. Everyone should do the same. He is far worse than Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton combined. We are so screwed and anyone who sits it out or votes third party, I want to thank them too.

And I am, for all my years been registered Independent.

Yes, there is a rather large contingent of drama queens on FR having temper tantrums lately with no regard for the consequences their behavior could yield.

But there is also a large group of us who are getting more and more disgusted with their behavior and we all need to hang in there and see if we can defeat that arrogant Marxist who aspires to global power.

The drama queens make more noise.

But I believe we are a quieter majority here.

Lot’s of the paid trolls making their mark on this post I see.

Yeah. Just 'cause I'm disgusted doesn't mean that my vote is gone (the alternative is orders of magnitude less attractive than McLame). I hope that anybody considering the "protest" vote keeps that one in mind.

Barr won't win. The Constitution Party won't win. The whatsitcalled "Falcon" Party won't win. Period. If you're disgusted and your principles are violated, go ahead and vote third party...if you live in a solidly red or solidly blue state (where it won't matter who you vote for anyway). But, you'd better be sure that your vote didn't cause your state's electoral votes to go for Øbama.

As disappointing as the Bail out is and how politics seems to be as unusual, do you really want a Closet Homosexual, Saul Salinsky student and intern of Soros to be the President? Remember, Obama only pretends to be likable, he isn’t so harmless. He isn’t just another misguided liberal. I am voting for McCain no matter what now. The ship has been set sail, I will do what I can to get on a lifeboat. Right now it is a question of survival. I want to live another day for a better tomorrow. I don’t know about you. But there is always another day. I don’t know if a better day will be possible though if Obama gets elected. Look at the way people worship him. People have no idea what they are getting themselves into. Washington is like a snakepit. Maybe McCain is doing the best he can do under the circumstances. Did that ever occur to you?

I've read it. Re-reading it will not give me any incentive to assist in putting a dangerous Marxist in the White House.

I know the “I told you so” types can be an irritation, but I did tell you so. But most here probably didn’t need to be told, and plenty of you also told us, that it was beyond stupid to allow Gibson and Couric to have hours of interview time with Governor Palin where they could ask question after question and then edit it to show what they wanted.

Someone high in the McCain campaign is severely lacking in common sense. And that showboating campaign suspension last week was a dud, and maybe very damaging. (Also told us so on that).

The one hope, which many of us have also pointed out, is that Obama and company will screw up even more than McCain and company. That’s still a very real possibility, but the McCain camp is making it hard for them.

Governor Palin might give a performance tonight that will undo all the recent stupidity of the McCain campagin, but I don’t think many would say they deserve that good fortune. But maybe the voters as a whole do deserve it.

(The two worst presidential nominees of modern times.)
