Underestimate Sarah Palin at your peril, Biden warned

Sarah Palin: danced around her rivals 'like Muhammad Ali'

One of Sarah Palin's former political foes has delivered a warning to Joe Biden before tonight's first televised vice-presidential debate: underestimate her at your peril.

The Alaskan state governor and moose-hunting "hockey mom" plucked from obscurity by the Republican nominee John McCain has been getting intensive coaching ahead of the debate from experts including the former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.

Republican concerns grew after interviews in which Ms Palin, 44, has appeared lost for words and supporters feared that a poor performance could deal a lethal blow to the McCain campaign in the same way that her performance at the Republican convention breathed life into it.

Her gaffes include citing Alaska’s proximity to Canada and Russia as giving her foreign policy experience.

But Mr Biden - who famously came a cropper during a primary debate in 1987 when he borrowed a line from the British Labour leader Neil Kinnock without crediting it - will be careful to avoid complacency, especially after an account in today's Los Angeles Times of Ms Palin's success in Alaska.

The newspaper said that Ms Palin had been "woefully unprepared" when she started her run for the Alaska governorship in late 2006, stumbling in her answers before an audience of electrical workers

But within a few weeks she was much more at ease and, in the words of one observer, she ended up flummoxing her rivals "like Muhammad Ali dancing around the ring".

From the moment she was chosen, I said "Let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin."

I hate to put pressure on Sarah

But She might be the only chance to get the campaign on the track again.

I have no clue what Mc Cain is doing and that is his problem

The base is getting pissed.

She’s not called Sarah Barracuda for no reason........

Let the feeding frenzy commence and let the bodies (Joe Biden) hit the floor.

Gwen Ifill has got a lot of scrutiny lately. I think she knows she can’t turn this into a Jeopardy program.

My fear is it has been made impossible for us to ever see the woman the Alaskan people elected.

I sure hope things go well tonight for Sarah, and that Joe appears befuddled and not up to Sarah’s level by comparison.

The latest polls are discouraging. Sarah needs a strong performance to solidify support for the McCain/Palin ticket. Support for Sarah herself has waned, maybe due in part to caricatures of her in the MSM. She has to present herself and speak with the courage of her convictions.

Obama is winning in battleground states such as Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, and Colorado according to the very latest polls. We’ve got to turn this around in those states.

Amen to that. With her personality, smile, beautiful eyes, happy face she’ll woo the crowd. For those who can’t be wooed by just who she is...well, she’ll kick their butt with her performance. Go Sarah!!!!

I really like her reference to Lincoln’s qoute on being on the side of God. That is what I am praying for..that we are on the side of God and that he will look out for us in this election.

As do I.

If not, there is no chance for us come November.

The scene from the first “Rocky” movie comes to mind. The one prior to the fight where Apollo Creed is busy with promotion details while one of his trainers is watching Rocky on the local news channel pummel the heck out of a side of beef.

We will be too. There’s not much else to be done to help her but to pray for her. The devil is out there and trying to destroy her. This has proven to me just how hateful, spiteful, ugly, miserable, bitter, resentful the dem/lib/lefties are.

Never, never, never will I ever vote for one of them. I don’t care if they put someone DECENT up there one day because the ugliness inside their hearts and their party will manifest itself onto that same candidate and he/she too will be sullied with a dark soul never to be recover again from that abyss of their party. Deep, dark, ugly.

Go Sarah Palin...bring America back to goodness.

I hope so.

I wasn’t around for Reagan so I can honestly say I have never felt as strongly about a politician as I do about her.

Why do you fear that? You are being taken in by too much of the media’s words and that’s what they want to happen.

I have faith we are going to see Vice President Sarah Palin and one day President Sarah Palin.

Have faith and be positive. Pray for her as she is a good person. Pray for the opposition cause they need all the prayers they can get.

well, tonight’s debate is important. Sarah has been caricatured by the MSM similar to how they caricatured Dan Quayle years ago. This is a big chance for her to overcome that caricature with a strong performance.

The way the polls are going, McCain/Palin need strong showings to re-gain support. Just maintaining the status quo until election day will result in President Obama.

Don’t forget, She will not be edited like in the interviews with Gibson and Couric. We’ll get to see her whole answer
