PHILADELPHIA (AFP) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Saturday thanked his Republican rival John McCain for urging supporters to be respectful and stop hurling abuse at Obama at his rallies.

"Now, I want to acknowledge that Senator McCain tried to tone down the rhetoric yesterday in his town hall meeting and I appreciate his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other," Obama said.

You’re in Ohio, right? Even a commentator on PBS said McCain would have to do REALLY well in Ohio to overcome the votes by the games the Democrats are playing. And these two lines are what I’m hearing all the time - including on local talk radio:

The only thing that will put a stop to the fraud vote being counted is if it makes it nationally on MSM which ain't going to happen

Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry’s military service “dishonest and dishonorable” and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.

The White House declined.

“It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me,” McCain said in an interview with The Associated Press, comparing the anti-Kerry ad to tactics in his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush.

Asked if the White House knew about the ad or helped find financing for it, McCain said, “I hope not, but I don’t know. But I think the Bush campaign should specifically condemn the ad.”

Retired Adm. Roy Hoffmann, head of the Swift Boat group, said they respected McCain’s “right to express his opinion and we hope he extends to us the same respect and courtesy, particularly since we served with John Kerry, we knew him well and Sen. McCain did not.”

My friend who likes Obama said he liked Sarah Palin but was sorry she took the “slime” route by associating Obama with Ayers.

This after Palin received the most vicious sliming in modern political history!

We should not be afraid of negative campaigning. The Rats have the MSM to do their sliming for them, while they appear to be above the fray.

Republicans do not have that luxury. If there is something the public needs to know about the Rats we have to say it ourselves. If that is “negative” so be it.

It was probably Obama's trolls who wrote McCain the fake letters (I'm a lifelong Republican BUT...) and scared him into thinking the Republican base was so nutty they were going to start a revolution.

Come on, McCain - time to GET REAL. Republicans don't even demonstrate in the street with placards. THEY'RE AT WORK. Republicans are NOT going to do a revolution. The people who wrote those plaintive letters are trolls. Track them down and see. And yeah, many trolls "register" as GOP. It makes their story easier to believe. DO some research. Call Rush. He knows how to deal with these people.

McCain needs to mention it in one of his debate answers. Just as Joe Biden went in one 2 minute answer from talking about the banking crisis and the Bush economy to gas prices (in the first 15 minutes of the VP debate).

Get the topics out there that you want the public to hear. If it is at a rally, the public won’t hear it, John.

He needs to bring up ACORN and Ayers, Barack Obama’s AA.

I think McCain just lost the election with that statement.

It's really funny how blacks are always accusing the whites of using "code words" that are insulting to them.

At the same time, they have a bevy of code words (although they don't really need them as they can call us 'whity', 'doughboy', 'cracker' and any other demeaning racial word they like, anytime and anywhere, without repercussions).

Now this word ZerObama is using..."Respectful". That's code for "don't remind people that I'm friends with a terrorist named Ayers, or a black, anti-American racist names Wright, or any of my other tainted associations.".

Obamamamama knows that McCain is a tired, whipped old man, hiding behind Sarah's skirt, and doesn't have a chance.

Was it a "community organizer" who had all the libs cross-voting for McCain during the primary to water down the competition?

And for the record (see astroturf roots) there is growing suspicion that these outbursts are being staged by Democrats, at least some of the time. It takes McCain off of his message he is speaking about and lets Obama slur the supporters of John McCain.

Then McCain should make an issue out of this

And more importantly McCain and his campaign should have been prepared for these tactics and what is yet to come (and they will be much worse even to staged violence by Obama's people )if McCain closes in the polls

Knowing the Marxists behind Obama it should be no secret to anyone with a brain that knows how the commies operate

Preemptive strikes by forewarning the public should be part of the McCain strategy --but it won't and I guess talk radio and Hannity etc will have to do it and I hope they get on it

“Saddle up! We’re heading into Indian country.

Hey I love Indian country!! Seriously people the tide is about to turn and Obama IS going down. Now with ACORN being exposed and the 800,000 OOPSY dollars that Obama forgot to report...it is hitting MSM and they are being FORCED to report this, poor souls. McCain knows something is up by calling Obama a corrupted Chicago politician last week was his hint. Easing off and calming the seas at his rallys is only a smokescreen, I feel, for what is about to come. He wants to have peace in place when Obama gets it ...and it is coming.

No, let’s be precise. Barack Obama isn’t a traitor or a murderer. He just likes to hang out with people who are.

Amen. People, some of your responses makes FR sound a hell of a lot like DU.

Let’s put everything we have into winning, but let’s not become like “them” to do it.

A threat of a revolution in the event of losing the election should be considered seriously by authorities and investigated. However the left makes such statements all the time and is not called on it.

Even in the event of a stolen election with millions of dead and duplicate voters casting ballots, it would not be the answer. But a march of millions on the capital (or on the corporate headquarters of the sponsors of the nightly news broadcasts) would be a peaceful protest.

Republicans DON’T engage in street warface and agitation. That is what threw the Democrats for a loop when Clinton was protested during the impeachment hearings and especially in 2000 when the Democrats wanted to manufacture more votes for Gore behind closed doors. Ballot tampering is a serious thing.

WTH! Some folks seem to ask McCain for calling 0bambi an antiamerican, muslim terrorist or satanist. If he does THAT the election will be over. Such destructive rhetoric would backfire! A candidate has to be in accordance with PC to be electable...

No, he did not lose it with that statement.....he made the statement because his media buddies were saying “this is not the John I knew”, and he wants his reputation back.

He knows the media writes our history, and needs them on his side to write the story of his career.

He knows its over, so he wants to go back to the Senate with good press.

The most important add running on TV is the ties between Freddie/Frannie and the Rats like Dodd and Frank. New adds showing OBAMA relationship to ACORN should cause a little stir up.

Maybe this is all pre-planned... heat up the base get then fearful and angry at the left then step up and defend Obama regarding the harshest sentiments then show the middle that Obama is really untrustworthy because of his Radical positions and Radical ties to other Radicals.

it might work....

Using the same method that the Political enemies of Palin used against her we need to run an add that says something like this.

ACORN under investigation for Vote Fraud. ACORN supporting predatory lending and the failure of Freddie and Frannie.

Obama started his political career with ACORN, Obama gives almost a million dollars to ACORN.

Obama using his position as a Political candidate for the Presidency to fund and support an organization accused of voter fraud maybe not a crime, but serious lack of judgement.
