A lot of people did call for more regulation of Fannie and Freddie. That was treating the symptom. I dont know of any politician, except Paul, who called for the removal of their free credit line to the treasury.
Right. Yet Paul is somehow the conservative heretic.

You know you are absolutley right. Our government throws the Constitution out the window whenever it feels it needs to. It has done it before and will continue to do it. Ron Paul is just pointing it out.

Ineffectual? I don’t know. He’s certainly been more effective in getting the critique of the Fed out to the public than any other member of Congress. Without Paul, Bernanke’s would be getting a completely free ride when he appears before Congress.

“The libertarian movement in this country has been taken over by the far left.
Thats why all the anti-war Cindy Sheehan type talk comes from their circles.”
And the GOP which is now pushing for nationalzation of banks has now been taken over by the communists?

"As a kid, I was my Dads remote. Hed tell me to go change the channel...luckily we only had 3 channels at the time"I was the one who had to turn, and then hold on to the tin-foil topped rabbit ears, so there would be less snow on the screen.
Yes, I remember the three channels, too. And every time there was a State of the Union speech, all three channels had it on - and there went Howdy Doody, Flipper and Lassie! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Perhaps he didn’t vote for it. But that fence was always a joke. I realized that at the time and I saw that it was the political class throwing us a bone to back down. I think Ron Paul saw it the same way. But he has consistently stated that the border needs securing.
How safe can we really be fighting abroad when our back and front doors are wide open?

Well than, you just contradicted your self by trying to correct me.
I support the Security Fence Act and as I correctly stated, Ron Paul does not.

It's interesting how the Wall Street opinion of Ron Paul has become the default opinion of Ron Paul on FR.
Wonder why that is? ;)

It isn’t. I never said this issue was caused by the free market, but the recessionary aspect is caused by the market trying to deflate the bubble we’ve been living on. “We” (being mostly liberals) wanted an ownership society. We reduced interest and mortgage rates. We let people buy homes that really shouldn’t have. Lots of homes were built in response to this artificial growth and home prices went up. The market told us we’re living in a fantasy and crushed it. Now we’re trying to cure it by pseudo-nationalization, unconstitutional loans from the federal government, and more inflation.

I guess that's no longer "conservatism". Man, the way back from "compassionate conservatism" is going to be tough.
Naturally the politician who most clearly articulates conservatism is dismissed by a crank among "conservatives" here on "FreeRepublic.com". I guess that's what happens when you have a big government progressive masquerading as a conservative Republican in the White House.

And border security. He wasnt strong on that either. Dr. Paul opposed amnesty and fought to end the anchor baby status for illegals.

Ronald Ernest Paul might help Barrack Hussein 0bama in LA.
