"This is a HUGE story and is not going to overlooked any further. It's being overlooked right here on this thread, was there or was there not a McCain presser on ACORN, and if so, what was the substance? Isn't there anybody out there capable of a one-paragraph summary??

The main media response seems to have been along the theme of “I think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill”...just like the apparent Obama campaign reaction.

There was not a McCain presser. There was a Acorn presser that Fox originally mislabled.
Therefore, this thread is now wide open. I prefer we talk about boobs.

The employer-required health issue depresses wages. I wish McCain would come out and say he wants to change the law that says only employers can collective and negotiate rates. He needs to say that any group that wants to do so can - churches, alumni, whatever.
Any group can negotiate a group rate. I believe the problem is that only health insurance offered through the employer is tax exempt. I would favor a law that made health insurance tax exempt regardless of the source. However, there might be some "unintended consequences" there, as I could see some bogus "insurers" cropping up and offering all kinds of services under the rubric of "health care". The real solution is to reform our whole tax system.

Jeff I don't who calculated those figures but I always keep my old tax books so I can look back to see what taxes were for each year. Those in your chart are not correct. Also the chart says
"Making" I presume it means after taking deductions then
paying taxes on the balance.
Here is what the actual 2007 book says were taxes based on the balance after deductions.
Single making 30K - tax $4,500 for 2007 was $4,113
Single making 50K - tax $12,500 for 2007 was $8,930
Single making 75K - tax $18,750 for 2007 was $15,180
Married making 60K - tax $9,000 for 2007 was $11,430
Married making 75K - tax $18,750 for 2007 was $11,604
Married making 125K - tax $31,250
My tax book 1040 A doesn't go up to 125K but for $100,00 in 2007 it was $17,841.

It was supposed to be based on 2007 Shcedules before deductions, meaning that was your adjusted income. I am updating the numbers based on the Official IRS web site 2007 Schedules;
http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/article/0,,id=164272,00.html
Singel:
30K - $4,109
50K - $8,924
75K - $15,174
Married:
60K - $8,217
75K - $11,597
125K- $24,097

Anything that any level of government might do to negate voter/voting fraud at this late date would mean riots and potential for a coup.
It's our own damn fault because this same problem has existed (in less blatant form) for the past several election cycles and NO ONE has acted to stop it.
IF McCain manages to pull this one off his first actions must be to literally crush Acorn and its kindred and to bury McCain-Feingold in a very deep pit.

From Link you provided.
"Note: These tax rate schedules are provided so that you can compute your federal estimated income tax for 2007. To compute your actual income tax, please see the instructions for 2007 Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ as appropriate when they are availableThe numbers on that chart are only estimated. I gave you the actual numbers from the 1040A tax book.

"The ACORN issue needs to be addressed, the vote/voter fraud needs to be stopped, but you don't do that at the barrel of an M-16, you do it through a peaceful process, through the courts, by exposing the wrongs and correcting them in a civil process."And that's going to work just dandy under an all socialist/democrat government...that's government, not administration.

Check out your 60K number for married filing jointly. Looks to close to the 75K number.
Let me know. I will run with the numbers form the book...but those two seem askew.

They really do think we're stupid. There are investigations of fraud going on in 11 states. There was fraud going on back in the primaries. He's probably not even the legitimate nominee nor will he be a legitimate president.
If you call being a legitimate nominee after getting some of the delegates from a state (MI) where he was NOT even on the ballot!!!!!!!!!!! Big trouble coming - I think CW II.

You can't have GWB sending out the National Guard to stop ACORN - closing down polling places...that's madness.
The hype and hysteria surrounding this election is most likely just that, hype and hysteria, I don't believe the sky is falling, I understand how it can appear that way, but just faith and keep a cool head.

“The healthcare thing is scoring big, even with people I knew to be McCain supporters. Most dont bother to educate themselves...”
0bama’s lies are going unanswered, McCain is not offering anything but his (justified) attacks on 0bama. 0bama is winning by default.
And yes, the American public is too intellectually lazy to study the issues and think through the consequences.
May God have mercy on the Republic.

They look to be laying the groundwork for legal challenges after the election..if needs be...
ACORN’s purpose is to destroy the people’s faith in the electoral process...period. What else would one expect from a Marxist front? If they can get their candidate in during the process all the better...
Far from boring stuff if you ask me...if you cherish your right to vote for an elected representative...
