Honestly you overestimate the power of elected officials to permanently effect change--over to even make change

In 1965 America inaugurated LBJ and a Congress with two thirds 'rat majorities in each house. The result was the "Great Society," an obscene power grab which failed in all its stated goals; but now, six or seven trillion dollars later, we're still paying the price for it.

Don't ever underestimate the damage that can be done by a gang of grim, determined political radicals with police power and the power of the purse in their hands.

"The left lived through 8 years of Bush to emerge stronger than ever...we can live through 4 of 0bama."

That's because Bush didn't destroy the country the way liberals will, nor did he really have all that much control beyond not using his veto pen. Look back through our history, especially when the opposing party took over during a financial crisis. It usually takes DECADES for the power to switch to the other side again. FDR and LBJ have both done massive damage and virtually none of it has been repealed.

Your idea of making your "stand against the US's slide into socialism" will help make that slide an avalanche. Go ahead and pull the drain plug on the life boat. That'll teach us! Just like teaching those republicans and booting them out really helped us now that Pelosi and Reid are in charge. That was such a great plan we should do it again??? So, now we might get to add four years of 0bama who will nominate the most liberal supreme court imaginable and then, assuming there's a country left, maybe another four more years of 0bama...then?

>> Four years of Bambi will get us one or two justices, but it will also get us 8 years of a real conservative pres (just as the reaction too Carter was RR). <<

What makes you think conservatives will magically take back the country in a mere four years? Probably some delusional conservatives had your mindset when they abandoned Hoover in 1932 because he wasn't strong enough on "rugged individualism" for their tastes. No matter, in 1936 they'd be a good conservative candidate, right? Wrong. The result was TWENTY YEARS of New Deal socialism under FDR.

And BTW, your guy Bob Barr is to the LEFT of McCain. You must be confusing this Bob Barr with the conservative one from 10 years ago. How can you justify voting for the CURRENT Bob Barr, who heaps praise on Al Gore and claims Clinton was a "better" President than Bush?
