It's time to face facts. In-your-face liberalism is about to make a comeback. And this time it will be on steroids.
Next year the Democrats will control both houses of Congress, most likely with comfortable, perhaps filibuster-proof majorities. If there is a Democratic president, too, Washington will host one of the most liberal governments in American history. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid are more than ready to make staggeringly liberal changes in the country's economic, social, and foreign policy.
Obama says Washington needs to "invest" tax dollars in alternative energy, infrastructure, health insurance subsidies, and education before it starts worrying about deficit reduction. Paul Krugman writes that "now is not the time to worry about the deficit." Pelosi wants Congress to pass another $300 billion economic stimulus package by the end of the year--even though the previous $300 billion Congress spent last winter had no discernible effect. The GOP has been horrible on spending. The Democrats will be worse.

The difference in your analogy is that 8 years of Bush gave the left 1/2 of what they wanted. There NEVER was a conservative majority in the House and Senate with all the obstructionist RINOs. So Bush never had the ability to go hard right on things like Social Security. The left hated him because he shot down Gore and Kerry, but he governed from the center on everything except defense.
Obama will have a solid majority in both House and Senate. We are not talking about a leaky boat, we are talking about a hard left legislative gusher. Gay marriage, high taxes, welfare, out of control enviro-whacko bills, no domestic oil production, no nuclear power, no coal power, a hard left turn for the Supreme Court and lower courts, terrorist appeasement, I could go on forever.
People should hold their nose and prevent the RATs from over running our country, then raise H*E*L*L with McCain and the RINOs to keep them in line. The time to get rid of RINOs is the primaries. Doing so now is absolute suicide.

I would be a good person to respond to you. Many around here know I was not a McCain fan, however, I rethought my opinion when I started to learn just who Barack Obama is.
Barack Obama would end free, fair elections, he would appease and aid our enemies and bring destruction to your fellow citizens.
Be very afraid, we can rid ourselves of the David Brooks type after this election and try to renew with Palin types.
Do not allow Obama to destroy us. He most surely will with a total dhimmi Congress.
Obama isn’t just a socialist, he IS a communist.
Your vote will say absolutely nothing.
I don’t buy the SC argument. Four years of Bambi will get us one or two justices, but it will also get us 8 years of a real conservative pres (just as the reaction too Carter was RR). That president will appoint more GOOD and RIGHT justices and the net net will be conservative positive. Doom and Gloom is designed to prevent us from ACTION.
I made this mistake and voted Libertarian in the Dole/Clinton election. I will never do it again. Please- please-please, consider this:
the one overriding issue to all others (marriage, taxes, big government, judges) is the war on terror. If that endeavor is allowed to falter and became less virile, all else is for naught. We will slip into the same trap that France and Britain have fallen.. I include in that bullet point, that Europe is moving towards 50 % Islamic population. What a cheerful thought.

well, n00b, you appare4ntly haven’t been paying attention to the growing empowerment of ACORN. After four years of their representative in the presidency, you will not get the chance to vote in a Republican. Naivite is charming, but it makes you a useful idiot in the ACORN scheme.
And don't forget what we got the last time we had a liberal 'Rat President, a 2-1 'Rat majority in the House, and a Senate with the 'Rats controlling cloture. Many here on FR are too young to remember when that was, but I remember like it was yesterday. It was the 89th Congress, 1965-1967 with Lyndon Johnson in the White House. Remember what that got us? Do Medicare/Medicaid, the "War On Poverty", massive welfare state ring a bell? Not to mention four years of race riots and a growing disaster in Vietnam. We're still paying for that today. LBJ and the 'Rats put in place a massive socialist experiment, programs that can never be repealed. We and our progeny will be paying for that for the rest of our lives, short as those may be.

Or, as I say, better to eat half a loaf with McCain and live to fight another day, or die of starvation with Obama. After four years (probably more), Obama and the 'Rats are going to starve us out. There will be nothing left to build on. Those who think it will be like 1976 with "Carter gave us Reagan" and some conservative savior waiting in the wings in 2012 to rescue us are simply deluding themselves. The only one waiting in the wings in 2012 will be Obama and the 'Rats, and the sheeple will give them another term because they've voted themselves largess from the public treasury.
Not for President, they didn’t. If she was on the top of the ticket, it would be a different story.
At least be honest with yourself, and us, and admit that your vote is actually one that McCain lost.

Anyone who speaks there mind here is liable to be called names. That’s fine with me. I have courage enough to stand by my beliefs. Protecting the free markets is my most strongly held belief. This government land grab of our economy scares me more than anything else going on.
