[history]
WASHINGTON (AP) - An Associated Press-GfK poll shows the presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000. Two weeks before the election, McCain and Barack Obama are essentially running even among likely voters.

Or is the AP trying to save face and allow the rest of the Drive Bys to choke on their chili?

Nice. As I’ve said (oh, about a million times by now), ignore the polls and work like we’re 1% behind.

Obama's worst nightmare come true: The race is even.
From National Review (Campaign Spot Blog) yesterday: "Believe me, there is someone in the Obama campaign who is deathly afraid of the 'McCain pulls even or goes ahead' poll." (And in Gallup, it was within 2 percent.) "That Obama strategist knows how much depends on the whole Chuck Schumer and Rahm Emanuel approach work with the media to demoralize conservatives, and keep the perception of a juggernaut going. But a day or two of a few bad polls, and that strategy backfires. The conservatives know they've still got a shot at this."

Good news is, all things remaining equal, it will NOT get better for Obama between now and November.
Bad news is somehow the media will see to it that all things DO NOT remain equal between now and November.

Sheez - someone e-mail this story to Drudge. He has a headline up says
Landslide Like Reagan. For Obama of course. I have never in my life seen polls all over the map like this year!!!!!!!
To: The South Texan
Either that or are raising expectations for a McCain surge — and then deflate you when the poll crashes to Obama +10 in the next few days as you scream “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?”
LOL. Must be fun work to be a pollster in the tank for Obama (as AP undoubtedly is).
The only one who has shown a stable race is Rasmussen interestingly enough. He still seems to think this is a 4-6 point race, and his numbers do not fluctuate as madly as these other polls. He still oversamples Dems IMHO however, which means that this might be good for us.

A link to this article is up on Drudge, in red, in the upper left hand corner, albeit in smaller print than the landslide headline.
