Sarah Palin: Superstar? Some Republicans Want Her to Run In 2012
Canadian Free Press ^ | 3 hours ago

To her core Republican supporters, there's a Sarah Palin universe where she basks in superstar status and is a strong contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

"Palin draws large crowds and has energized Reagan Republicans, gun owners, women and people of faith," Grover Norquist, president of the anti-tax lobbying group Americans for Tax Reform, said recently.

"She is an asset and the most consequential VP candidate in a generation."

"If the Republican party is to survive the next decade or so as a major competitor for control of national politics in the United States, it will have to be a vastly different Republican party in four years," says Cal Jillson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University and author of "Pursuing the American Dream: Opportunity Over Four Centuries."

She is beloved by core Republican supporters due to her right-wing views on a wide range of issues such as same-sex marriage, abortion and immigration.

A Washington Post tracking poll released earlier this week indicated that Republicans and conservatives, for the most part, believe Palin's selection demonstrated the strength of McCain's ability to make sound decisions.

More than seven in 10 Republicans, and just under that number of self-identified "conservatives," said McCain's choice of Palin made them more confident in the kind of decisions he'd make as commander in chief.

"In most presidential primaries, the candidate most in line with the conservative or liberal base of their party winds up winning," wrote the Post's Chris Cillizza.

"Palin is clearly of the conservative base in a real and meaningful way; they view her as their first real spokesperson on the national stage in recent memory - perhaps since Ronald Reagan. It's hard to imagine those feelings going away because she has not worn well with either moderate & independent-minded voters."

Win or lose, the MSM will hammer her relentlessly, continouously, to render her unelectable. Same as they did with Cheney.

Worst case scenario: Palin + Jindal in 2012.
Best case scenario: Palin + Jindal in 2016.

Darn right I want Governor Palin to run again. Youbetchya. But she has a better than legitimate shot running as the savior of the Libertarian party than as a Republican.

So, if I get this right, according to the Canadian press, if the Republican Party would follow the “increasingly progressive” tendencies of the American public, it would have a chance for future success. So in other words, we only have a future if we become Democrats.

For her to command more respect from all sides, she needs to take a page from Margret Thatcher and learn voice control. When Thatcher first became a public figure, she had that high English schoolmarm voice. When elected P.M. she had a noticeably lower, and slightly slower voice. Her voice would still jump an octave when she got excited, but she learned to control it, and thank God she did.
The lower the voice, the more respect it commands. It's the way we are programmed.Obama was gifted with a good voice already, and his speaking style is the rythmic style of the Baptist preacher. If one has not heard that style before, it is his most powerful weapon in his arsenal of communicative skills.

Much like the voice of Saruman. See The Two Towers Chapter 10 - “…Those who listened unwarily to that voice could seldom report the words that they heard: and if they did, they wondered, for little power remained in them. Mostly they remembered only that it was a delight to hear the voice speaking, all that it said seemed wise and reasonable, and desire awoke within them by swift agreement to seem wise themselves…”

“Some Republicans”? I would be hard pressed to find one who did not want her to run.

I’d like to see Petraeus run and win in ‘12 and ‘16 with Palin as veep, and then she would run in 2020. (she’d only be 56 at the time).

Assuming the worst case scenario (BO and the mainstream media fool most of the people), Romney in 2012 could be like Reagan in 1980 if the country survives the Obama-induced malaise and whatever challenges comes BO’s way. Iran and others will respect Obama as much as they respected Carter. Biden was right about the inevitable tests, but wrong about his spine of steel. BO has a spine of tapioca backed by pillars of styrofoam. Palin as VP in 2012 would make the GOP ticket stronger.

I didn’t say I was voting for anyone else other than the Republican’s...I will not hide my disgust for the dumbing-down of the party...and neither should you. Palin is a disgrace and we, as a party, are going to get an asskicking. “And then what?” should be our topic of discussion..

she’s dumb, inexperienced and seemingly witless

That is an astoundingly ignorant thing to say. I think you have been reading too much Peggy Noonan. In any case, you've allowed yourself to be manipulated by media coverage and are blaming Sarah Palin for your own inadequacy.

We used to judge people on their records, and I defy you to find anything in her record to support your rash and ill-considered judgment.

Republicans are rightly called "the stupid party" for many of their political strategies over the years. Sarah Palin has done nothing to warrant your despicable insults, and much to deserve your gratitude.

As you know, every election is a choice between the lesser of two evils, but of the four people on the two tickets, Sarah Palin is the only one I could actually vote for.

But I suppose you think the overwhelming majority of Alaskans are idiots, too.

And I suppose you have met her personally and discussed issues with her and have determined on this basis that she is dumb. You are not taking any other’s words for your opinion, correct? You have definitely formed this opinion on facts that you know to be correct from your direct discussions with her and with the research on her education and IQ tests that you have made....correct?

I see the PMS (Palin Madness Syndrome) is thick with that one.. Maybe we should get some of this on the thread.

I always find it funny that people behind the anonymity of a computer (for all we know, in their mom's basement) judge a person as 'dumb' who has been quite successful and is the Chief Executive of the State of Alaska. I would love to compare resumes and IQ tests of those who call her 'dumb'.. methinks some are overcompensating.
