Harvard Law Review has first Black Editor

First black heads Harvard journal CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) His boyhood friends in Indonesia were street peddlers, and his grandmother still lives in a mud-walled house in Kenya.

But Barack Obama is another world away, presiding over the Harvard Law Review as the first black president in the prestigious journal's 103-year history.

Barak Obama: "I'm not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me. And I'm not interested in isolating myself," Obama said in a recent (04/17/1990) interview...

Found this on www.newspaperarchive.com (membership required)

His arrogance and condescension (to say nothing of self-promotion) knows no bounds...

This is a newspapaer quote -- actually appeared in numerous newspapers (it was a pick-up of an AP Wire Story)...

His arrogance is breathtaking...

FREEPER ADVICE REQUEST -- Any point in trying to get friendly media to pick-up this quote? I know it is old -- but it really underscores the arrogance of this man and it is consistent with his "bitterness" quotes... also, it ran in both Ohio and Pennsylvania Newspapers -- maybe it would get some local coverage in these battleground states?

"Professors may treat black students differently, sometimes by being, sort of, more dismissive, sometimes by being more, sort of, careful because they think, you know, they think that somehow we can't cope in the classroom," he said.

It's the exact same way right now with the media.

Which organization do you suppose he's talking about here?

Good find. I’d email a copy to all the conservative internet sites and radio that you can identify. The ‘Suburbs bore me’ needs to be circulated.

At a recent meeting in a Harvard cafeteria, his affinity with the underdog was readily apparent. "I lived in a country where I saw extreme poverty at a very early age," Obama said. "Parts of my family in Kenya remain very poor. My grandmother still lives in a mud-walled house with no running water or electricity.

"That's who I am, that's where I come from, not always literally, but at least emotionally."

She STILL lives in a mud-walled house with no running water or electricity. What the heck good has his "affinity with the underdog" done? How can he lecture a plumber about spreading his wealth around, when his campaign has raised nearly a billion dollars and his grandmother STILL lives in squalor?

Both of his grandmothers are still alive, yet none of them were at the convention?

The Weather Underground? ACORN? The New Party...

I think the article is interesting largely because it reveals a bit of the man behind the (recently better) polished mask... he literally compares himself to Michael Jordan and Bill Cosby?

It must take huge amounts of self-discipline to keep his secret-self better hidden nowadays...

What a narcissistic nutcase this guy is... (and has been for a LONG time)

Concern for Obama's education led his mother to return him to Hawaii, where he attended public schools through high school.

Actually he went to Punahou which is not a public school, am I right?

And today Obama explained his absence from the campaign by saying that some things trump politics, and taking care of family is paramount.

——Unless it’s taking care of your brother George Obama in Kenya.

right — this article is full of interesting inaccuracies (i suspect that Obama himself was the source of these errors) — Punahoe is an expensive and fancy private school...

By far the best school in Hawaii and very good (and elitist)even by mainland standards.

"It's crucial that people don't see my election as somehow a symbol of progress in the broader sense, that we don't sort of point to a Barack Obama any more than you point to a Bill Cosby or a Michael Jordan and say 'Well, things are hunky dory,'" Obama said.

He should eat these words cold, refusing to point out and saying you too can achieve it is part of the hidden agenda of Black liberation theology as well as the means by which some many still live in poverty.

They are deoid of hope because people like Barack Obama never tell them they can be successful if they try, instead they have to wait for someone to bring the rest of the world down to their level of existance.

Senator Obama's house in the Kenwood neighborhood of Chicago (that's right ...the "burbs"). The lot on the left is the subject of the "Rezko" deal. Rezko bought the lot for the asking price, and the Obamas got $300,000 off the asking price. Rezko was recently found guilty of "influence peddling" related charges in the federal court in Chicago.

"There's certainly racism here. There are certain burdens that are placed, more emotionally at this point than concretely," Obama said. "Professors may treat black students differently, sometimes by being, sort of, more dismissive, sometimes by being more, sort of, careful because they think, you know, they think that somehow we can't cope in the classroom," he said.

He finds even Harvard Law professors too racist for his taste? Wow.

Is there any more so-called "progressive" group in the entire country than Harvard Law professors?

He is truly THE master of the race card! Jackson, Sharpton, you are unworthy even to hold this man's deck of race cards!

Two decades ago he still couldn't acknowledge his white grandmother (the one he is investing one day to say happy birthday to) but he did acknowledge someone in Kenya he'd probably never seen or heard from - and probably couldn't pick out of the crowd today.

Oh yeah, and the bio from 1990 is still being recycled almost word for word.

The link takes you to the News Paper Archive (at www.newspaperarchive.com) — you have to pay to be a member in order to access the document (which I mentioned in the comment field of my post).

Moreover, I posted the ENTIRE text of the article as well as its citation so I am not sure what data point you are missing...

Also, (as another commentator pointed out) Drudge is now linking to the story...

So — what is your major malfunction? Some p1ss in your coffee?

" Found this on www.newspaperarchive.com (membership required) "

Please do not post from sites requiring membership.

The title you created

" 'Rediscovered' 1990 Newspaper article/interview with Obama: 'The suburbs bore me...'

had to be replaced with the published title. Please do not make up your own titles.

The link you used does not go to the article. This time I searched and found another source.

However, it is much simpler and less time consuming for us to pull threads than to perform this many revisions, so please take note.

Thank you.

I was wondering about that too. Just to make sure I wasn’t crazy, I googled it, and yep Punahou is a private prep school.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punahou_School

Obama attended for 8 years, from ‘71 to ‘79.

Isn’t it funny how nobody can get Obama’s biography right? And in this case you have to think that they got their facts from Obama himself. There would have been no reason for them to dig through his school records or whatever. So, at least at first glance, it seems reasonable to conclude that he lied to them to seem more “common man” than he is.
