Romney Supporters Trashing Palin
Townhall ^ | 10/28/2008 | Amanda Carpenter

It looks like there might be some truth to those rumors former Mitt Romney supporters are already trying to clear Sarah Palin from the GOP presidential deck to make room for their man Mitt in 2012.

Former Romney Spokesman Kevin Madden was particularly harsh on Palin in an interview on CNN. His criticism of Palin is especially noteworthy because we're only days from the election.

In a spot with Campbell Brown Madden said Palin's wardrobe flap showed how "unseasoned" Palin is.

BROWN: And, Kevin, even defending this whole controversy over the clothes, the RNC buying all the clothing, it keeps the story going, and, as Dana pointed out, one more day where it's dominating the coverage.

KEVIN MADDEN, FORMER ROMNEY CAMPAIGN NATIONAL PRESS SECRETARY: Yes. And that's an indication just how unseasoned Sarah Palin is as a national candidate.

Ordinarily, somebody who knows that this is something that you're trying to get to a subterranean level, that you don't want to dominate the narrative for yet another news cycle, would make sure that they don't mention that, and, instead, they focus with a certain rigidity on the message of the day, because that's exactly what a V.P. is supposed to do.

Madden went on to say this is why McCain should have picked someone to be VP who has been a governor "for a long time." (Um, who would that be...?)

MADDEN: Look, that is why people who have done this before, people who have run national campaigns, always tend to look at prospective V.P. candidates, and they're the ones that are nationally vetted, the ones that have been governors on the scene for a long time, the ones that have been -- gone through the scrutiny of the national press corps in Washington. And that's exactly what has happened here, is that, when you put out an unknown and you give them 70 days with which to go through a vetting process, both by voters and the national press corps, ugly things can tend to happen.

IF true, they are helping to get the remains of Ronald Reagan to
probably hit 10,000 RPMs in his burial vault.
(RE: Reagan's "eleventh commandment")

Romney/Palin

Palin/Romney

Don't make no difference to me.

>>>>2) I was a Thompson supporter and remember quite well the tactics employed by the Romney camp and sycophants against him so if I find it conceivable that the same is being done to Palin when I see the same people going after her, well, I think the suspicion is justified.

The anti-Fred rumors from last summer were from Mike Murphy a former disgruntled McCain aide who had left the campaign and gone DEM. Novak accidentally attributed the rumors to a Romney aide. A few days later the truth came out about who it actually was and Novak said as much. But of course just like the latest rumors the truth gets lost in there somewhere. The media played it for all it was worth and many here on FR took the bait hook line and sinker, just like the latest rumors this last week. The latest anti Palin Romney aide rumor turned out to be a former Bush Aide Nicolle Wallace who worked for CBS.

Its predictable the left will try to divide us right now. What isn't predictable is how many FReepers are buying these rumors days before the election.

BTW, most of us former Romney supporters would be very happy right now if FRed or Palin were at the top of the ticket right now. I had quite a few good discussions with Fred supporters when I volunteered in Iowa. True to identity politics they were sensible, strong, sure and conservative.

Still posting lies and liberals on a new thread.

______________________________________

Lets take them one at a time. From the "anti-Palin article" you link. The actual source is a former Bush aide Nicolle Wallace not a Romeny staffer. CNN passed on the "rumors" to the American Spectator which showed poor judgement in carrying water for CNN on this one.

The Novak mistake attributing anti-Fred stuff was dealt with months ago. The real source of the rumor was Mike Murphey a former McCain staffer not a Romney staffer. Novak admitted as much but I see you haven't linked his comments from a few days after the initial "rumors".

But I'm guessing you already knew that one as well. but want to bring up lies from a year and a half ago to try to splinter the base in the last 6 days.

>>>[Romney: A Mistake for McCain, 7/23/2008, Dick Morris][Dick Morris]>>>

LOL, I'm not even going to respond to that one. Pretty shameless for a "so-called" conservative to post Dick Morris to try to divide the base 6 days before the election.

Here I'll help you add another quote to your list since you have sunk down to quoting Dick Morris. "The real Romney is clearly an extraordinarily ambitious man with no perceivable political principle whatsoever. He is the most intellectually dishonest human being in the history of politics," Barney Frank

Next, Massachusetts Republican Jeff Beatty is on fine terms with Romney, he told McCain Romney is the best choice for VP. Romney has campaigned for him recently. A month ago Beatty was still singing praise to Romney's economic plans when he went into the debate with Kerry. Jeff beatty hasn't been jilted by Rommey.

Your link to Red State (if you read the entire article, apparently not your strong suit) Erikson admits Romney isn't behind any anti-Palin attacks thus refuting your other points that Romney is behind it. He cites the Spectator as one of his original sources which was proven wrong. (i.e. it was nicolle) Kevin Madden hasn't worked for Romney since he droped out. He is a private citizen working in some D.C. based business now. He has worked for Tom Delay and Bush as well. When a former employee says something dumb we get to hold the ex-employer accountable? Oh wait this is America. Kevin did go off message on CNN making the point that the clothes discussion was detracting from the discussion fo the real issues. He has also vehemenently praised Palin for her performance in the debate and elsewhere

And I see you added a new one. Lets take the entrie quote you wrote and we can see how you have falsely edited it.

Your quote - "(Romney) said he presumed that Palin's vetting process was "just as extensive as anyone else on that list."">>

From the actual source you linked.

Mitt Romney, speaking to reporters before the Massachusetts delegation breakfast in suburban Minneapolis today, said he thought vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin would "strengthen the McCain ticket dramatically."

"I think Sarah Palin connects very, very well with the base of our party and with individuals who are undecided across the country," he said. "I think she's going to bring a lot of moms and dads to our team."

He said he presumed that Palin's vetting process was "just as extensive as anyone else on that list."

Pretty shameless from a so-called "conservative" FReeper who got caught posting cartoons from Dave Horsey an anti-Palin liberal political cartoonist earlier today on this thread here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2118431/posts?page=227#227.

I’m not only telling you I’m through with Mitt Romney but I’m also going to write and tell him.....and he was my first choice as candidate....he has just shown his mean spirit. That is what has made Sarah Palin so attractive to me.....she doesn’t seem to demonstrate that nasty side. I pray that God will always give her that grace to rise above the trash that seems to run for our legislators.

A little more on what you call Romneys "snarling" attack on Palin.

"(Romney) said he presumed that Palin's vetting process was "just as extensive as anyone else on that list.""

The first half of the sentence are the journalist's words. The second half is the only directly quoted part. So you are trying to pass off the selective commentary of a liberal journalist as the truth here on FR.

I wonder why a boston.com (Boston Globe) journalist would selectively edit a quote like that? Oh look here http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2008/10/13/obama_for_president/

COME JANUARY, a new president will take charge of a nation diminished, an America that is far shakier economically, less secure militarily, and less respected internationally than it was eight years before. The nation needs a chief executive who has the temperament and the nerves to shepherd Americans through what promises to be a grueling period — and who has the vision to restore this country to its place of leadership in the world.

Such a leader is at hand. With great enthusiasm, the Globe endorses Senator Barack Obama for president. The charismatic Democrat from Illinois has the ability to channel Americans’ hopes and rally the public together, at a time when the winds are picking up and the clouds keep on darkening.

So how much is the Globe paying you? Or do you just post their misinformation for them on FR here for free?

No matter how much you try to revise what was posted
there is only one fact:

===> Myth Romney is a vile backstabbing shapeshifter.

Your Master has been caught betraying the GOP by his
personal orchestrated attack on Gov. Palin and Sen. McCain.

I hope Rush and Hannity, who campaigned for Romney big time will take the time to investigate this and now admit what a loser Romney is.

If Romney is really innocent of this attack on Gov. Palin, he needs to get public with all his supporters and push hard for a McCain/Palin ticket with lots of money, good hair and what ever else he's got to give to get them elected.

Yep, he sounds like a selfish guy, NOT!!!

This is a case of itchy ears, believing lies about Romney because it makes you feel good. But then again, its typical of this crew. I am glad you guys are reacting this way, because there are only probably 5 to 10 people on the entire site who believe. If you ran a poll on this topic you would be losing in a landside. You guys have just shot your credibility.

When you are done talking about ears and how sweet you are on Myth Romney,
Note this: Romney is nothing more than a selfish, coveting, vile, backstabbing traitor.

Romney refused to help the GOP Senatorial candidate in Massachusetts,
so guess who is helping this weekend? None other than
true Conservative Fred Thompson from Tennessee.

"The most glaring oversight was Romney's refusal to do a phone recording
for Massachusetts Republican Jeff Beatty, who is challenging Sen. John Kerry.
"Mitt supposedly cares about Massachusetts, but won't even return phone calls asking for help,"
says a conservative working for Beatty in Boston.
"It's a tough race, but the least he could do is help.
He's showing his true colors."
