NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – “John McCain! Not Hussein!”
So goes the latest popular chant on the campaign trail with Gov. Sarah Palin, demonstrated at a morning rally in central Florida.
Ms. Palin was midway through her stump speech when a group of supporters began shouting it in unison, drowned out a few seconds later as Ms. Palin talked over them.
A similar chant, “Vote McCain, not Hussein,” was heard at a campaign event for Ms. Palin in Williamsport, Pa., earlier this week.
Senator Barack Obama’s middle name is Hussein, a fact that some of his opponents say proves that he is a Muslim. Mr. Obama is, in fact, a Christian.
After the rally in Florida ended, two of the people leading the chant explained why they did so.
“Because it rhymes,” said Shirley Mitten, 64, a volunteer at a pregnancy center and a resident of Brooksville, Fla.
She said she does not know if Mr. Obama is a Muslim. “He says he’s not, but we have no way of knowing,” Ms. Mitten said.
Her husband, John A. Mitten, 64, took credit for starting the chant. “I was trying to get it going!” he said. “I just do not want Obama to be elected.”
Mr. Mitten said he could not trust Mr. Obama because of his past association with William Ayers, the 1960’s radical, and because of his relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. He also pointed out that Mr. Obama’s father was a Muslim.

He also claims to go to church twice a month. Yeah, right. Any way to check that claim? He seems more like a twice a year Christian.
Looks like there are more McCain/Palin supporters than NYT subscribers.

Divisive is code for opposition to forced redistribution by government.
I hope McCain/Palin win in CA, not much chance, I know, but there always hope! I do believe it will be much closer than the 27 points that Rasmussen keeps screaming about.

This should read: the only people I really know voting for Bozo are welfare recipients and others making very low income. Most of those won't bother to vote.

“Hussein” is a name that is closely and historically linked to Islam and Islamic fanaticism.
The martyrdom and beheading of Hussein ibn Ali, the name-sake of all later Husseins, is the cause of the split between Shia and Sunni Islam.
Shias celebrate his death in the Battle of Karbala on Ashura, which if you recall, is a day that Iranian Shiite fanatics lash themselves into a fit of religious ecstasy.
This is the indisputable origin of the name Hussein.
His first name, “Barack,” is a variation on Barak, the name of the winged horse on which, according to the Koran, Muhammad ascended directly to heaven.
The New York Times continues to insist that Obama is a Christian, and those who think otherwise are racist dolts.
Leaving aside the theological question as to whether the doctrines of Obama’s “church,” Trinity United, are really Christian, you can not dispute the fact that the man possesses two names with deep historical connections to Islam; names nearly associated as deeply as the name Muhammad.
So please quit your harping and casting aspersions on those not as “sophisticated” as the typical NYTimes reader.
We rubes continue to believe that there is something in a name.
Devisive is good. The goal is to split off the left of middle from the left and far left.
The message should discriminate between those who love the Marxist message and those who can be induced to fear it.
Hussein’s parents should have named him Milhous...
One of my best friends has a very muslim name yet she if Irish Catholic. Her mother is Irish catholic, her father is Pakistani muslim. When her parents married they agreed if the first born was male all their children would be given a Christian name and raised muslim, if the first born was female they would be given traditional muslim names but be raised Catholic. Their first born was my female friend.
