Is this good news or bad news? Long line at my poll...

I fortunatley go to absentee vote this year as I'm out of state today, but my wife went to vote this morning and thought she'd beat the rush and the line is super long and there is no room for parking. So my wife went home to get an umbrella.

Demographics of those waiting are white and older people. Is this good news for McCain? I've never ever had to wait in line to vote in my area...it's always been walk in and vote.

I hope this is like 2000 and 2004 where increased turnout is actually conservatives going to the polls.

If there are big lines I take it as the conservative base is out in force.

We’re going to need a counter-enthusiasm factor big time to beat this thug.

It is GOOD news.

Obama was stressing early voting.

The way I understand the demographics is that hispanics are about 55/45 Obama, caucasians about 50/50, and blacks about 95/5 Obama.

On the surface, that suggests the caucasian numbers must be higher for McCain for him to be polling closely to Obama.

Sounds like Bradley effect to me. We’ll see.

It's actually very good. I think a huge turnout helps McCain. Despite what the Lamestream media has been saying, B. Hussein's strategy has been to suppress voter turnout, to make it more possible that his small ACORN voter fraud Terrorists could be the difference maker in many swing States. Huge voter turnout negates those terrorists.

As for me, I'm presently fasting and praying. I've been doing this since 7 AM yesterday morning, and will keep going until 11 PM tonight. I felt led to a 40 hour fast because I want to focus my mind on God, and not get caught up in all the news of the day. If I were to listen to the news, and even some talk radio, I'd just get depressed. However, focusing my mind on God, I know He can do great things for my life, and America as well.

Demographics of those waiting are white and older people.

That's the racists coming out to vote for McCain, of course.

I had the same situation in southern Indiana; however, the line was very vocal in supporting McCain/Palin. I was encouraged, but I never really believed the hype about Indiana being a swing state.

Good news. Also proves the point I made a few days ago when it was insisted, in a thread, that everyone should vote on election day and there should be no early voting. Without early voting the system would be overwhelmed, and your point that you never have to wait in lines and this year there is a long line shows how this election will be different.

As to who’s in line, could be bad news for Obama. I think many traditionally non-voters will turn out to vote against 0, but that’s just MHO because I happen to know a person who hasn’t voted in years and he’s showing up to vote.

FEAR is a much more powerful motivating emotion than GREED. Middle America is FEARFUL of this radical Marxist whereas his KoolAid drinkers are just GREEDY.

FEAR will trump GREED today at the ballot box! Middle America on the RAMPAGE as in 1994!

Just got back from voting at my precinct in the Peoples Republic of Upstate NY...there was a line, which was attributed to the old voting machine needing some last minute maintenance. Once the machine was reset...the 10 or so person backlog shrank. I showed the poll worker my retired Army ID card (as was suggested in another thread), pulled the lever for all those soldiers who have our backs in Iraq, Afghanistan and anywhere else freedom is threatened, and went back to my office, where I’m posting this thread.

From the sounds of it, and I don’t want to be Polly-annish, but I’d say this is VERY good. It appears the majority of Obama supporters voted early, so BIG, LONG LINES, with the demos you described are more likely to be GOP voters. Obviously, the more the better. WE CAN WIN THIS. It’s all about TURNOUT. I read somewhere that black candidates do indeed get more blacks to turnout, as Obama is obviously doing. What the MSM doesn’t tell you is that black candidates also means MORE WHITE PEOPLE voting. I don’t mean that to sound racist, but it is a FACT. I think this is what you are seeing. There have been MILLIONS and MILLIONS of Christians praying for this election. I’ve been praying that God will stir people’s hearts to get out there and VOTE for candidates standing up for Godly principles and morals. I hope you are seeing the prayers of all of us in action. I’m in Oregon, where it’s ALL mail-in, so I won’t see any lines here.

I am not sure.

I am just got back from our polling place (without voting) here in Virginia. HUNDREDS of black people already lined up at 5:30, wrapped around the school, estimated wait time 3-4 hours. They only have 6 machines, just insane!!

It is raining, I have two toddlers, two strollers, a huge umbrella, and of course the kids are cranky, have to go potty, etc.

I am definitely going back, they said *usually* the lines dies down around 10, but this type of voting situation sure makes it very difficult for stay at home moms to vote.

I'm in Clermont County, Ohio(traditionally very Red area). Already voted but polling place is at end of my street and haven't heard many cars so far. Polls opened at 6:30.
